Well, I have lots of friends who went overseas to study, and they complain that it's boring wherever they go. So I guess I see HK in a slightly better light now, despite its horrible air quality.
I love Japan, though the only two times I've been there was to Fukuoka to visit friends

When I see great works from other people, especially in the anime section, I first drool over it a great deal and then try to see how they draw certain features I'm bad at, or just try to take in the way they coloured it in photoshop or whatever. That's why I (and everybody else at DA, it seems) love tutorials XD
I see you've created a few pixel art pieces. I love pixel art, and yours show excellent grasp of perspective and basically just knowing what you're doing with all the complicated rooms. XD Dannemora reminds of the pokemon buildings in the fire red version!

YEAH!! I'm so glad you agree with me. My parents just don't seem to get that reading fanfiction online can sometimes be even better than reading highly acclaimed books. They just WON'T BELIEVE some of the authors are _that_ good! It's sooooo annoying sometimes >< And when I tell them that some of the ff authors out there DO write for a living, they go all sceptical and say "Hmmmmm really? What kind of books do they write? noooo you can betcha they haven't. And the same thing happens with manga too. I told them about Death Note (the manga-- do you read it?) the other day, and about how it was such an intellectually stimulating manga, and they totally wouldn't believe me. And it didn't help that my brother (who's terrible at summaries, btw) started giving them this crappy rundown of it, and wouldn't let me interrupt. Bleh.
And I kinda wondered, what do you parents call manga? comic books? Because in Chinese, we have this phrase "ๅ
ฌไปๆธ" and it basically translates to "Picture book". As in the stuff 3-year-old kids read. It kind of annoys me that they don't even use the proper term for it ><

oh libraries don't generally have too many manga in them (but i found a french dragonball manga in my school library once... O.o), but we have manga stores all over HK. It's waaaaay popular here. Yes, he is younger than me
