I am wondering this myself. Last I heard, she wasn't doing too well and was also in the process of getting settled in again after a move.
I was being kept up to date by a close friend of hers but I haven't heard from him in almost a month now and am quite worried and wondering what is going on.

I'm glad others are concerned and sad that no one seems to know for certain how she is doing. I hope her trip to China wasn't too taxing and if she's tangling with illness again, hope for the best.

Hora, yeah it's been ages lol XD I tend to lose contact with people if they aren't Friended on DA (because I'm so bad at keeping up with friends RL... no working mobile and all).
I'm headed overseas next week and I'll be drawing like mad before then :3 Lets hang out when I get back to Australia (January...).

You can be a professional illustrator, a freelance artist (jack of all trades usually). Or a graphic designer. Usually the last option means more vector work and banner-making. Illustrators tend to work with drawing complete scenes or concepts, but less work with banners and icons or other webgraphics. I'm basically a freelance artist for hire at the moment, so I do a lot of different things.
The best way to make money as a manga artist is to spread yourself over a few categories of freelancing jobs so you can take as many of them as possible. A lot of packaging and cover illustration work these days use manga artists because manga has become such a popular style.

Definitely draw more than just manga. Photorealism practice is one of the best ways to get better at drawing manga (the shading, proportions, colours and so forth all matter more in making something look real). This also means you can get more jobs related to photo-manipulation and game art. Photorealism is especially important for game art these days. A trend is for the concept art to look almost 3D so it's easier for the animators and 3D artists to recreate faithfully.
There aren't that many jobs in the game design industry, it's very competitive so you need to be extremely good. That said, there are other art related jobs in the gaming industry (pixel artists, texture artists, 2D fillers etc), they are a bit more boring, but if you get noticed while working at such places they are also a great way to get into the game.
Make sure to practice often. Enter contests, draw new things that challenge you. Draw LOTS of fanart if what you really want is to do concept art in future. Make sure to do a lot of designs. Find your strengths and pander to them. Are you better at mechanical stuff? Monsters? Backgrounds? Or detailed characters? Practice what you're weak at too if you find yourself getting really good at one thing but lacking skills in another (concept artists are often split into categories, but you can earn more by being able to do all they require).

Nah last week I was just sick as a dog. It was annoying as hell as I have a job now, full time which I only recently got and did not want to use up any days off I didn't have.
