Joseph (Skip) Margle
Countryside pastel painting
Joseph (Skip) Margle lives in the Jessamine county countryside and is inspired by the beauty of the rolling hills and farmsteads in his rural community. He describes his pastel paintings as a
representation of the scenery he enjoys every day. He applies hard and soft pastels with tissue blended layer techniques using up to four layers of color to bring out the depth and flow of his landscapes. He also uses line and layering techniques to bring out details.
Skip's interest in art began early through inspiration from his high school art teacher. In his art career he has studied art under central Kentucky art instructors through the community college and University of Kentucky education system and mostly through self-study through a 'shelf full' of art books and lots of hours behind an easel.
As a Navy retired disabled veteran Skip has developed his art as a therapeutic outlet for creativity to help him focus his energies. He volunteers with local assisted living communities to share his skills and enthusiasm for art with residents there by leading group art activities.
His work is also being shown at Creative Arts at Sherri in Richmond, the Frame Clinic in Lawrenceburg and at Book Cents in Nicholasville or online at: www.deviantart.com ; www.CreativeArtsBySherri.com
