So, I happened upon a bunch of your posts in DAS from last year (I believe that's when most of them were) after a friend of mine told me to look around and be amused. Said friend of course has little taste for people like the ones who fight for DAS and it's misguided purpose. But I digress.

I wanted to drop you a comment to tell you that I enjoy how thought-provoking and stimulating your words are. It's very invigorating to see someone flexing their mental muscle.

Why thank you very much for those kind words,

I'm glad I was able to provoke your thoughts and stimulate them

IΒ see you are a writer and a poetic one at that, I can see where the importance of words and thoughts to you, comes from..

Allthough I must admit I'm drawing a blank now, was there anything in particular or just the whole of thought-provoking words? A person says a lot in their years.

I indeed like to provoke and intelligence is important to me, I know my words, if misinterpreted, can hurt, but that's not my intention, it is as you say, trying to stimulate the thought processes.

Thank you for the fav's aswell.Β

Well-deserved faves, so there is no reason to thank me. =] I should be thanking you for the visual pleasure of seeing the deviations.

Mm. I cannot remember off of the top of my head, but from what I saw, you simply took the in-depth look into things that most people ignore for the sake of argument and the simplicity of only scratching the surface. While not everything needs to be or is complex, it is nice to read when someone is being reasonable and analytical, describing something in the depth that the topic DOES deserve if it is to be discussed at all. There is no reason why we should skirt intelligence just to be rude to others or because this is the internet. That logic is silly considering the internet is a very permanent part of the world these days and can quite likely only become more influential.

I also have to admire how you handle stupid people. I have a rather short fuse, myself. So your ability to deal with them calmly is something admirable in and of itself.

Perhaps it is my own appreciation for words that makes me this way. But I'd like to also think it's because I have such a respect for the potential of the human mind.

serget2 In reply to PrairieLily [2013-07-20 08:26:21 +0000 UTC]

Well I'm sometimes guilty of a short fuse aswell, depends on how well rested and healthyΒ I am.

The thing is when I loose my calm I feel like I lost the discussion which is also true for others, the failure of the mind to come up with a proper solution or maybe, just maybe admitting that I am indeed wrong about a topic. Therefore I Always try to see it from as much angles as possible before I give an opinion. For instance "Gay rights" even though their minds are cramped (and really stupid) I do try to look at it from a Christian and conservative perspective, it is hard but this way I get to conclusions based on wisdom rather than politics or religion. That is why I, as a straight guy, can say, "love the one you want", it's just a matter of mutual respect. Nobody get's hurt by giving them equal rights. Anyway I digress.Β

I've heard this story about a japanese teacher who took his student outside to look at a raindrop glistening in the sun, every student saw a different color in it and they where fighting about it. So the teacher told them to switch positions and look again. Every student saw a different color than before and it happened every time they switched positions. That's when the teacher explained the lesson, in order to fully see and apreciate aΒ topic, you have to look at it from different angles and positions. This way a problem might be more complex, but the solution for it will be better because it serves all sides of the problem.

Β

This story I allways keep in mind when forming an opinion, and it is quite possible I haven't seen every angle yet, so my solution might be the wrong one or I haven't got a solution at all, nobody can know everything. That is why I am willing to change my position and take a new angle into consideration, if it presents itself,Β when forming a new opinion.Β  The problem is that a new angle is often presented by a disgruntled person and therefore given as an angry statement or combined with insults.Β  It's hard to filter out the true meaning and to leave the insults for what they are.Β

Another problem is that, to many people I look sarcastic (which too me is a wonderfull feature ) or even suffering from multiple personality disorder because I wear so many different hats. Now I'm the cop, now I'm the victim, now I'm the criminal, now I'm the witness, now I'm the person who heard it through the media and formed an opinion from incomplete data.

Β

All these people are involved when something happens. Try it with a simple news-item, it's amazing how you can have different views on one simple topic (like a waterdrop). That to me is using your mind to the fullest, it is not easy, but with training you'll become better at it. And it will help you with your short fuse.

Β

Β

Anyway this is how I try to see the world, the different opinions and I try to teach this to my son and anyone willing to listen to it, I'm sorry for the lengthy reply, I don't want to look like a preacher. And I really need to teach my kid how to ride a bicycle so I'll cut this short. (too late, haha)Β

I'm glad to have met a like-minded personΒ such as you, be forgiving to stupid people because they don't know better, and keep using your mind, you'll do fine.Β

Aaww! Best wishes to yourself, your wife, and your son! <3

I certainly agree that equal rights are a matter that should be based on respect, not the personal feelings of demographic A or B who aren't actually effected by giving others what they deserve to have as fellow human beings.

That's a wonderful story, actually. I'll be sure to keep that in mind for the next time I may need it. =] I appreciate that you took the time to share that with me. I hope you do share it with more people, especially your son. Something like that is good to pass on, rather than passing on hatred or bigotry as some people do. Who knows, you may meet someone someday who is truly influenced by it.

An old teacher of mine described it as "lenses", different ways of looking out from one's self. But any way you spin it, the need to consider how others think and perceive things is an important skill to have.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. =] I appreciate it.

It was my pleasure, i've seen 3D-pics before but I've never seen them made of fractals, it really gives a 3D-effect of something that was ment to be percieved as 3D but isn't. I would have never thought of this, it's briljant.

Yes, but I am not very good at realism though,
I can try it if you want, but I can't guarantee
a good result.
If I have to turn it into manga or fusion,
my style of drawing, I'm better.

But please answer my question, realistic or Manga ?

Both are OK, you choose, I just want you to know
that realism, I still have to practice a lot.

Don't worry about my family time, I draw a lot it's just
that I try to balance it between my family and work.
I choose, when I finish your drawing so it's not your fault
Don't worry.
I know about the eyes, they're still a bit between realistic
and Manga, But as I said it's a sketch and it's pencil, they
get better when I finish and start to ink them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

serget2 In reply to lovehurt123 [2012-10-04 20:24:11 +0000 UTC]

Ok I updated your sketch and off course worked on the things you told me,
You're right about the larger picture for a detailed face, but I wanted
to do a Half-body of you to make it more challenging for me, I have
enlarged the picture though so I could detail your face but do not forget,
you asked for manga so I have to do some changes, it will not look "exactly"
like you, especially when I ink it.

so here's the second update. Sorry it took so long it's been a busy week.

I've also posted a picture of my son and me, it's one of the only pictures
he looks a bit normal, because he's to wild and playfull to take a good
picture of him.
but I will not leave it there for long, because if you read on my page I
do not like to post personal things because of many people who want to hurt
other people.

I'm grown and I can take it but my son is just a child, so let me know when
you have it so I can remove it.
