I was looking for an excuse to write something to you here and found it through your prostitution legality rant/article, etc.

Well, I agree. Prostitution should be legal because a) prohibition doesn't stop it b) it's completely absurd to throw a prostitute in jail for working and c) they're not causing harm to anyone (agressively) by working the streets.

But there is a problem with legal prostitution. I was reading this article about this woman in Germany (where prostitution is legal and government-controlled) who was forced to become a hooker. So you might be wondering how that happened. Well, in order to receive welfare (or whatever it's called over there), the citizen must have a job - however little it pays or bad the conditions are. Since the brothels were hiring and she was physically able to prostitute herself, she had to or she'd be refused government support.

That's the only issue I see with legal prosititution. Thought you'd be interested.
