War Wing had spent another night going over maps, letters and strategies for the upcoming battle. He sighed heavily whilst rubbing his hoof to his eyes, trying hopelessly to brush away the exhaustion. This fight would be almost impossible without the supplies he requested, he knew that there were those in high positions that disliked him but no to the point of causing a loss to the kingdom.

"Politics..." he spat angrily whilst quickly looking over another letter from the capital only to feel more anger. It was difficult to actually do anything when he was constantly receiving orders from the city council who had no real idea what a fight even looked like. At the very least he wished the other commanders would take this battle more seriously considering the odds against them. The days of Spurnia's indomitable might had long since past, the constant fighting at the borders was draining the kingdom. Shaking his head War Wing set aside the letter and was about to read another when a voice rang out.

"Sir, a scout has arrived."

War Wing pushed the letter away and made his way out of his tent toward the solider, seeing there was indeed a scout with him. The scout lowered her head in greeting and held out the letter for him. With a nod of War Wing's head another solider stepped forward and took the letter.

"Greetings scout... Moss Mane, wasn't it?" The commander watches the scouts expression change to surprise and she hesitantly nodded.

"Yes Commander War Wing..."

"Any reports from the field?" He watched her salute and proceed to detail the movements of the enemy, predicted weather conditions and troop numbers. The scout again seemed hesitant and lowered her head a bit.

"It seems Sir... that there are reports of Unicorns on the enemy front lines..."

The solider next to her tensed and clenched his jaw making the scout shiver in fear but when she looked to the commander he seemed unbothered by this news. He gave off a very calm and regal air making her feel safe.

"That is unfortunate but not unexpected. Have the other Commanders been made aware?" Moss Mane quickly nodded her head to his question.

"Very good, I appreciate the news, please rest awhile before heading out. There will be few opportunities to do so from this point forth."

The scout was again surprised by this but did not want to disagree with a commander so allowed herself to be lead away when he dismissed her. He turned to the solider with the letter and took it, thanking the solider who saluted and returned to his post. Left to himself, War Wing heaved another sigh and returned to his tent, letter in tow, and wondered what ridiculous orders the council had sent him now.
