Description
Again, nothing complex. Just a simple northern lights themed image. I titled it "Two O'Clock" because that was the exact time I took my first glimpse of the northern lights.Terragen portion took 3 hours to render at 3000x6000. Postwork in photoshop took 2.5 hours. The planet took 30 minutes to texture in photoshop and took about 10 minutes or so to render in rhino at 3000x3000.
As you can see I've been going minimalistic as of late
Thanks for viewing!

Excellent job. I'ts quite spectacular. I only saw the northern lights once here in the reigion by seattle at like one or two a.m. as well. To bad there was to much light polution. You sure captured it beautifully here.

I've been exploring your gallery since I stumbled across it, looking for the one special piece that was dying to be ed. This is it!
I don't know a thing about this sort of art, so I can't offer any helpful advice or insight. The city lights on the nearby planet, the rays of light, the polar bear... I just love it. The only thing that seemed slightly amiss is the planet near the upper left corner. The lighted face looks like it should be closer to the bottom of the planet... seems to be where the light would fall. Or something.
But it's a lovely piece. The polar bear is charming.

This piece has me speechless. Not very useful for commenting, hmm? Lets see if I can give you some decent critique. Firstly, the rays of light...I see them as a necessary evil. They're taking away from the clarity, the vividness of the picture, but they're illuminating the details on that planet, adding to the effect of the whole picture.
Now here's a question for ya...Are the sky lights Aurora Borealis, or are they a second reflection of that rising sun? Love how the unanswered question leaves room for the mysticism of the image.

They are the lights of the Aurora Borealis. Gotta love people second guessing images in my pieces

The illusion they create is gorgeous anyway. ^_^

The vivd coloration is fantastic and the transparent cliffs are remarkable giving it an ethereal feel. The stars are a bit too bold though. Blurring them a bit might help.
