Wait, isn't this the same as layer clipping over your lineart layer to colour them...?

I believe so! I learned this method first and was satisfied with it, but so far people have commented and shared (i think) two other ways to do it!
This website is a damn fountain of knowledge man u-u

Well, whatever method works best! :'D I had to read your thing over and over, and it took me forever to figure out what you were doing ;A; That seems like the more bad-ass-professional way of doing it though ; 3;
So much knowledge -a-

You know you can just click the little preserve opacity checkmark on the layer and it automatically allows you to recolor any already drawn lines? At least for me anyways owo

(ʘoʘ) I DIDN'T KNOW THAT
I've only had the program for a short while and someone told me how to do it the long way instead, apparently.
BOOM THANK

...you know you can simply create another layer over your lines, click on "clipping group" and then just fill in that layer with color?

Wow, the mystery is solved! XD I'd always wondered how people did that! I'll have to poke around in Photoshop though to find out where the mask layer button is, because I admit I'm just too lazy to learn a new program. I think it may work the same way? Anyway, super thanks!

1000th In reply to Eloarei [2013-06-23 18:53:32 +0000 UTC]
Yay! I would advise reading some of the other comments on this thing though, apparently there are simpler methods of doing it that you might be able to find in Photoshop instead. c: Good luck!

This made me laugh hysterically for like 2 minutes straight and my dog had no idea why I was making such a weird noise and attacked me
I always wondered how people coloured their lines, because how can you colour the lines first when you need to get the actual colouring done and looking snazzy first???
I don't have SAI but I'm pretty sure I can recreate it in the programs I have, so thanks!

I'm pretty sure SAI is a free download, if you're interested! Otherwise, I hope it works out for you. x3 Glad you laughed!
