Though at first glance, a great deal of his size can be chalked down to his thick grey coat that, 9 times out of 10, is sticking up wildly in different directions. Other than his size, there is not much else noticeable about Zephs solid steel grey coat, other than the sudden large scar slicing through the fur on his left haunch.

Personality:

[Articulate] [Calm] [Focused] [Quiet] [Reserved] [Non-Combative] [Petty] [Melancholic] [Impractical]

Positive  Neutral  Negative
Articulate - "Another word for that would be… "
As much as it is quite rare to hear Zephyr say more than a couple words at a time, he is actually quite advanced in his verbal communication skills. He didn’t speak much growing up either, actually less than presently, but he always loved to listen to the conversations of the older cats in his colony. By intently listening to and analyzing the words of others, he grew a vast vocabulary, and on many occasions would practice his speaking skills with his mother. Zephyr's passion for words and constant practice made him a great speaker, he just doesn’t do it much.

Calm - "Breathe. Let’s think this through."
Zephyr has a naturally very calm disposition. Having grown up with two wild older sisters, he always felt like the rock in their sibling dynamics, and it was constantly up to him to get them out of trouble. Whether it be getting them unstuck from tangled foliage, or getting them out of trouble with their parents. Because of his full time job as “mediator” growing up, it is now very rare one will see Zeph get riled in any situation. He always tries to keep a level head on his shoulders and to think through situations as calmly as possible.

Focused - "I’m busy."
Zephyr takes a lot of things that he does very seriously, which constantly causes him to fall into a trance of intense focus. Though his entranced-like state may sometimes appear odd to others, it allows him to get a lot done, and typically succeed in whatever task he is set on completing. His focus transcends just working though, as he can often be observed staring intensely at the night sky, almost as if he’s being hypnotised by their light.

Quiet - "..."
Ever since he was a kitten Zephyr was intensely quiet. It took him longer than most kittens to begin speaking at all, and even after his first words it wasn’t until many days later that he spoke again. Zeph’s parents were quite concerned at first, but learned quickly that it wasn’t that he couldn’t speak, he just had nothing he wanted to say. During his adolescence it was often his older sisters who did most of the socializing, while he was content to sit back and listen, enjoying the conversation in his own silent way. Zephyr will speak if he feels he has something worthwhile to say, otherwise he finds it unnecessary.

Reserved - "I’m alright on my own."
Because of Zephyr's natural quietness it was never the easiest for him growing up to make friends. He had nothing against the other cats his age in the colony, he was just simply uninteresting to them with his lack of words. So naturally he became quite isolated, but he learned quickly he didn’t mind it that way. Having his parents and sisters as occasional company was enough for him, and he was content spending the rest of his time on his own. He is still open to new friendships and relationships, but it is uncommon for him to attempt to make these connections himself.

Non-Combative - "I’d rather talk this out..."
Zephyr is not typically a confrontational person, but on occasion he has gotten into some pretty heated debates on certain topics. In verbal debates, Zeph excels. His large vocabulary and vast knowledge from listening to his elder felines assists him in trying to overpower his opponent in wordy combat. But when claws are unsheathed, he is quick to back down. Zephyr isn’t particularly skilled in physical combat, but he can hold his own if he has to. His unwillingness comes from his horribly low pain tolerance. Zephyr would rather talk his lungs out than risk getting scratched.

Petty - "I thought I was fRuStRaTiNg."
It isn’t particularly easy to get on Zephyr’s bad side, as he’s not one to get bothered by people he doesn’t care about. On that note though, if he does care about someone, and they irk him with some form of disrespect, he’s not one to let it go. Growing up with his two older sisters, the three would constantly get into stupid spats that would end in them ignoring each other for days, except for the odd sarcastic remark, until their parent’s finally forced them to make up. Zephyr has kept this same energy into his young adulthood, and can be quite frustrating to deal with if he is upset with you.

Melancholic - "I’m just a little down."
Zephyr constantly has this blue aura around him, no matter what it is he’s doing. Something within him is just always slowing him down and making the things he does less enjoyable. There are times when this feeling is lessened, like when he’s running around with his sisters or staring at the stars. There are also other times though when he feels like he’s drowning in the feeling. He dislikes being around others the most when he’s heavily feeling this way, as it makes him think he’s going to drag others down with him, but this just makes him fall deeper.

Impractical - "Why can’t we do it this way?"
As much as Zephyr would consider himself quite intelligent for his age, he lacks personal experience in many areas. This makes his ideas and the advice he gives on certain topics questionable. His parents and sisters would occasionally praise him for thinking outside the box, but that did not help him as he got older and important situations arose. As much as he tries, Zephyr is not the cat to go to for game plans.

{ H I S T O R Y }

After the return of the legendaries to Paradise Valley, the area once known as the wastelands has blossomed into a land worth living in. Because the land is now flourishing, there is no longer a need for a society of gang mentality and “every feline for themselves”. A new society must be formed if they are to happily live in this new utopia.

Neveah and Malachi were two such cats who believed in a new society. One where everyone worked together to improve life quantity and quality. A society where they no longer had to be afraid of their fellow feline. With the help of the Legendaries, such society was born as colonies began to form and grow across the land. The River Colony just happened to be where both Neveah and Malachi, sharing in their optimistic outlook, decided to settle down.

As much as it wasn’t love at first sight, they were fast friends, and even faster mates. They were drawn together by their mutual joy and hope for the future. A future full of full bellies and a happy family.

The family they dreamed of was closer than they imagined, as only a few months after becoming mates, a litter was on the way. Two healthy kittens were born, and the parents couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, their happiness didn’t last long. At only 3 months old the two kittens, while playing by the rivers edge in the bright sun while their parents sat not too far away, slipped and fell into the rushing river and were whisked away. Neveah and Malachi never found them.

For many months the couple mourned the loss of their beautiful kittens, terrified to even think of having more if there was a possibility the next would face the same fate. But one day, Malachi overheard a conversation between some fellow River Colony cats about a group of them that were preparing to split off from the River Colony and head towards the Prairies. That was it. That was what the young couple had to do if they wanted to ever feel safe to have another litter.

Malachi rushed to Neveah and told her all that he had heard, and she was quick to agree to the idea. Desperately did she wish to be a mother again.

Once in the prairies, they were officially part of the Plains Colony. The change of scenery was welcomed, and the lack of a river nearby even more so. They waited a little longer this time, getting used to the new area and lifestyle. But eventually, Neveah and Malachi were blessed with a new litter of three this time. Two girls, Elisa and Piper, and one steel grey little boy, Zephyr.

Zephyr had a relatively normal childhood growing up in the Plains Colony. Being the youngest he was constantly teased and batted around by his older sisters, and he was a total mama’s boy. He didn’t have many friends, but he didn’t need them as he found his joy in the stars. Every night he would sit awake while his family slept around him, gazing up at the stars until he got too tired to keep his eyes open.

As he grew, Zephyr took more interest in his fellow colony cats and would spend most of his days sneaking around to listen to the conversations had between the other felines. He learned many things while doing this, but one of the most fascinating was the different religions.

He had so much fun listening to the stories and beliefs of different cats, but as he got older, he couldn’t help but find the Followers of the Fallen and the Judgments Speakers tales a bit questionable. He had nothing against these beliefs, he just personally found nothing of value to them. The Legendaries were who saved them all, their own kind. What had gods ever done for them?

Slowly Zephyr began to lean in with the Champions, but he never outwardly expressed his beliefs. He himself was still unsure what he believed other than the love and safety within his own family.

That was before the gossip of the Red Plague began to spread around the Plain Colony. An illness that takes over a cat for 3 days, they die on the 4th day, only to rise again on the 5th day with blood red eyes and an unresponsive nature. At first Zephyr didn’t believe the gossip. It was just a silly joke that kittens began to spread around to spook each other and it got taken too far. The rest of his family was less convinced, but the Red Plague hadn’t shown itself anywhere near the Plains Colony, so they believed themselves still safe to stay.

It was a mistake. Rapidly the Red Plague spread through the Plains Colony, and almost like clockwork, one after the other, both of Zephyr's parents and his middle sister Piper caught the plague.

Zephyr and his eldest sister Elisa didn’t know what to do. It happened so fast. And now they were left with only shells of they’re beloved family, unsure how to save them, unsure how to take care of them.

Elisa first thought that they should bring their family to the Legendaries, as they had to know what was going on, but she quickly learned they had already tried and failed to cure a cat of the Red Plague. So instead, Zephyr and Elisa tried their best to take care of their parents and sister and took shifts at night to make sure none wandered off.

They were unsuccessful. Just like how they had caught the plague one after the other, they went missing. First their mother, gone one morning when Elisa had accidentally fallen asleep during her shift. Next their father, who disappeared when they were too busy trying to find their mother. Lastly their sister, disappearing the same way their mother did, only this time during Zephyr’s shift.

They had lost everyone but each other. Devastated and confused, the duo stuck together in the remnants of the Plains Colony for a couple more days before Elisa finally snapped. She was broken and felt unsafe every day they did nothing. So she proposed to Zephyr that they head for the tunnels the Legendaries had built at Paradise Valley. They at least wouldn’t be so alone there and the Legendaries could protect them.

Zephyr was reluctant to go. As much as he believed in the abilities of the Legendaries, he also didn’t see any good in going to an area packed with felines that could spread the plague. He thought it would be a better idea for his sister and him to split off from the Plains Colony and go live somewhere isolated together until the plague had run its course.

Over the span of the Red Plague taking over his colony and taking away three of his beloved family, Zephyr had really grown into his identity as a Champion. Clearly there were no Gods out there helping them, as the plague was only getting worse and worse. What Gods would let this happen to them. Now, Zephyr only believed in himself and those he loved, others were questionable. Everyone had their own loved ones and people they wanted to take care of and they would always put them before everyone else, just like he would for his sister. So he was not ready to put himse;f and his last family into the hands of people he doesn’t know.

Elisa was insistent though. Multiple times she tried to use her authority as his older sister to force him to come with her, but when he didn’t budge, she quickly fell into desperate hysterics. She believed that only when they were tucked away in the tunnels would she feel remotely safe again.

Only when Zephyr had come to realize his sister's desperation did he reluctantly agree to accompany her to Paradise Valley. He still wasn’t comfortable with the idea, but his sister's sanity mattered more to him.

The broken siblings began the trek to Paradise Valley, and when they arrived they were quickly ushered into the cramped tunnels. Zephyr would have to kiss his nighttime stargazing goodbye for a little while.

This is where Zephyr currently is.

Why did your character come to the Valley?

Zephyr was pressured by his elder sister to accompany her in the tunnels of Paradise Valley so that she could feel safe again from the Red Plague after the infection and disappearance of their parents and sister.
