Anyway. So far as community reception of the Reverend goes, Sam Hill is definitely not the norm. She doesn't travel very much, anymore, because it takes all of her talents just to defuse the Situations provoked by her presence-- and even then, there's no accounting for bad blood, civil unrest, or other foundational problems that are outside of her control.

The composition and levels of energy in this piece are fantastic. It is so fun to look at partially because of the composition, and partially because of the layers it uses to tell its story. In the foreground, there is so much anger and energy and frantic movement, with guns drawn, swords being reached for, and people lunging back in their seats. In the middle ground, someone getting ready to throw a chair, someone who is already dead and still, and someone else sitting and merely staring at the dead body with cold curiosity. And behind all that, the Reverend, sitting still and quiet in the back, with an energy all her own, as though completely untouched by the chaos of the room, or anachronistic to it. Every time I look back at this piece I find something new and hilarious or interesting to look at!ย

Oh, man, one of the things I really enjoy that you often see in comics / DnD guidebooks / concept art / so forth are those large, chaotic crowd scenes where every background character is up to something fun and interesting-- like an Eye Spy page full of little vignettes. Any piece of visual art I can spend more than half a second consuming is a triumph in my book ;_; Thank you so much for sharing this, I am really happy to hear that spending time with it is rewarding in this case!
