Q: If Affinity Designer is a vector program, how does it handle pixels?

A: Beautifully. It's actually a two-in-one, with seamless moving between vectors and pixels. It has two editing modes, 'Draw Persona' for vectors and 'Pixel Persona' for bitmaps.

It has the following bitmap features:
- Pixel View Mode, so you can see exactly what you're getting down to the pixel level.
- Raster brushes, for easy shading and texture.
- Ability to use pixel fonts (gear icon in Layer panel --> fiddle with Coverage Map and Blend Gamma to get perfect pixels)

Q: Does it have different anti-aliasing for fonts at small sizes, like Strong, Crisp, etc.?

A: No, it does not have font hinting or modes like that. However, it does have ability to manually mess with the anti-aliasing. (See this thread for how.)

Q: Would Affinity Designer be good to use for my comic art?

A: IMO, a resounding "yes". Designer has smart shapes where you can very quickly create and edit word balloons. It has crisp vector brushes.

A: No, but Affinity Photo does! Affinity Photo has all the features you could ever want from a photo-editing/manips program.

Affinity is also working on a desktop publishing application (InDesign competitor). I am quite confident that Affinity will overtake Adobe, just because it's such better software.
