Description A promised tutorial for
This is the last of my Terra cosplay TuTs (?). Hope you all found it helpful as well as entertaining. I found that making tutorials is also (in a way) a part of cosplay. Extending the life and enjoyment of a particular character that you cosplayed and that it could give birth to many more cosplays and cosplayers out there. Similar to cosplay, its taxing but fun

Now, Go forth my fellow Terra cosplayers and multiply! (sounds so wrong...)

Ironically I've used some parts of your tutorial to make Ven's armor (at least my v3, because my first two ones were flat like a pancake and could hardly be seen in pictures too...)

I bought my materials in our downtown marketplace. It may be crowded, dirty, at some times smelly but the streets is filled with raw materials if you know where to look; the street is called Colon.

Who knows maybe you also have a place like that in your area

So long as they're sturdy, there should be no problem . Sorry for the late reply.

It can work. Just be mindful in using them. We don't want the armor to look too big on your arm

You just made my day
I am aiming to Cosplay Terra in September, and have been at a loss of where to start for the armor!
I'm so glad I found this! Sooo much better than the dinky things you can buy from cosplay stores!
Now if only I could get me some nice Hakama pants and get a nice belt/sash!

+Fave for you sir!

23rdAngel In reply to Teknobyte [2013-05-13 22:32:06 +0000 UTC]

No problem
Have to agree on the dinky comment. I cry whenever one appear on my screen. I'm sure the sash+ hakama is the second least problem for your costume. Good Luck on your Terra!

Also, I wonder if putting a thin synthetic leather over the pieces, rather than painting, would be any easier? I have been told that the leather has a nice texture and is more durable than most paints. Opinions?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

23rdAngel In reply to Teknobyte [2013-05-13 22:40:51 +0000 UTC]

(I'm not sure if my leather is same with yours, 'thin synthetic') Leather is kinda thick and doesn't work well with curved or rounded surface. If your leather can avoid this problem, no problem.

Yeah, it lasts longer compared to paints. Its a plus if it can be 'metallic' looking for the armor. KH has more of a clean look so I don't think leather is a material for them. But hey if you think it would make Terra cooler don't let me stop you

Teknobyte In reply to 23rdAngel [2013-05-14 05:15:39 +0000 UTC]

I had spoken with brunopagno about this [link]
Seems he used a thin leatherish material to cover his piece.

So I'm trying to take the best of everything I can find to put together a bad-ace cosplay costume.

Sharleen018 [2013-04-09 05:35:56 +0000 UTC]

can you explain me how did you make it look so glossy and shiny? what material is it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

23rdAngel In reply to Sharleen018 [2013-04-09 22:00:24 +0000 UTC]

Its a (transparent) clear semi-gloss acrylic spray-paint. Good to make your pieces shine and adds protection.

Beforehand the foam is prepared to make sure paints would look good on it with primer, heat or white-glue.

hi! i love this so much! it's a great tutorial, but i was wondering about the forearm. does yours just slip over your hand? i find that when i make mine so that it can slip over my hand, it's a really big and bulky armor. do i just have to deal with that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

23rdAngel In reply to MartaUzumaki [2013-03-21 08:30:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's bulkiness does make it slip and securing it's upper with parts would hinder your flexing movement. But it can be remedied. If you notice, I wore a glove-armor for my Terra (with a decent foam thickness). This helps keeping the forearm from falling while still you still able to flex your MAsSeLLSss

anime-sketcher1 In reply to 23rdAngel [2013-05-28 04:00:15 +0000 UTC]

How in the world do you secure it? I've made my piece, but I can't figure out how to keep it from slipping. My hand can fit through it, but I'm having to stuff it to keep it's shape, and it's just frustrating me. Tips?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

23rdAngel In reply to anime-sketcher1 [2013-05-29 01:55:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, this was also a problem for me since the piece is much larger than our average arm. You can add garters inside the armor to keep it secure. I made another armor as part of my glove so the piece won't slip way pass the wrist area. Hope this tip helps

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

anime-sketcher1 In reply to 23rdAngel [2013-05-29 05:32:09 +0000 UTC]

Garters, like garter belts? How would you even attach those on the inside? Or are you fastening it in the back?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

23rdAngel In reply to anime-sketcher1 [2013-05-29 23:41:06 +0000 UTC]

No back fastening. Yep garterbelts. Cut one strip and create a ring out of it that would fit your forearm. Cute four more strips and attach it on each sides, an "X" shape but with a hole in the middle. Stretch each of em to the insides of your armor and glue. It will work like a trampoline of sorts

Is there any way you can do a tut on how you did the boots? the boots are the only things giving me a hard time with my aqua cosplay!

They are the hardest part I've made from the Terra and Aqua pieces too

Unfortunately, I have zero WIPS for this one (must remember to do WIP shots more often ). But I'll see what I can do. Since the patterns are still here with me.
