ever tried to draw a pony surfing? the anatomy is craaaaaazy!anyway, requested a painting of her OC tidal wave.
so there you go, tidal wave surfing.
as you can see the background is a mess... that's because i'm extremely lazy ;D

i begin with some different shades of blue, just to get the shape of the wave. i use darker tones for the bottom and lighter tones for the top, also i use dodge and burn tool a lot. and in the end there's always some color correction
i never tried to paint the sea before, so it was a nice experiment. you can always learn something different by trying something new!

Derp. I should be ashamed, but I have tried to draw a surfing pony... crazy anatomy indeed, especially for quadrupeds

Holy freaking heck, that water is absolutely PHENOMENAL. There is no way I could replicate this in pencil (darned digital artists get ALL the advantages... XD).
Also, on the pony character, the value changes are spot on, and VERY fluid, much like the water.
