Description The bird flew by a small bonfire, dropping the two undead off. Oscar landed headfirst, and Red landed on top of Oscar with a small "oof". The crestfallen warrior sat on his perch, looking at the two warriors.
"Ah, you must be new arrivals. Let me guess. Fate of the undead, right? Well there's no salvation here. You'd have done better to rot in the undead asylum. Well, too late now. But since you're here, let me help you out. There are actually two bells of awakening. One is up in the undead church. The other is far far below, at the ruins of Blighttown. Not much to go on, but I have a feeling that won't stop you. So, off you go. That is why you came here, right? To this accursed land of the undead?"
Oscar lowered his head.
"My family's saying never mentioned two bells..."
Ignoring Oscar, Red put a beef jerky hand on the warrior's chain mail covered shoulder.
"I thank you greatly for your help, I hope your hollowing will be painless, but before we go off, may I ask your name?"
The chain mail warrior bowed his head.
"You know, it's been so long, I don't remember! But I suppose... Call me Charles."
"Thank you Charles. Now if you'll excuse us..."
Red quickly pulled out a black sprite and crushed it in his hand, before sitting at the bonfire and reviving to human.
"That feels so much better..."

Shaking his head, Red turned to a well, where a sorcerer's corpse hang over Β the edge. Red slowly pulled the corpse off of the well and the pants and boots off of it. Slowly pulling them on, Red looked more and more normal.
"Now I just need a chest piece... Oscar?"
The knight looked up.
"Yes, Sir Red?"
"Oh cut the formalities. I assume you are tired from your experience in the asylum, so why don't you sit here and rest? There are things I need to do in preparation for our journey."
Oscar nodded.
"I thank you. I have many things to think about," he said, removing his helmet. The knight was fairly young, with clean, short blonde hair and blue eyes. Red nodded and walked off, collecting misc. items.

-Skip-

When Red returned, he was wearing a coat on top of the gear he had already gotten, and had what appeared to be a firekeeper soul. Oscar was playing go fish with Charles, but neither of them looked up as Red walked down the steps and up to a cage, where a woman in a dingy and bloody outfit sat.
"Uh, excuse me, Anastasia?"
The woman looked up at the Eastern warrior.
"I uh, have a firekeeper soul, I understand you don't like your fate here, but could you strengthen my estus?"

He slowly pulled an emerald colored flask out of a pouch on his coat. The woman crawled over to him and put the soul into the estus, put a hand on top of the opening, and shook it all about until the soul was no longer there. She gave the flask back to Red, nodding.
"Thank you," he said with a bow. "I fare thee well." He walked back up the stairs, and heard the two men still playing.
"Got any 10's?"
"Go fish."
Shaking his head, Red tapped Oscar on the shoulder. Oscar looked up at Red. "Yes?"
"We need to head off, when you're ready."
"Ah." He turned to Charles. "Looks like you win." He grabbed pulled his helmet on and stood up.
"Where do we go first?" Oscar asked.
"Let's go ring that first bell!"

Yes. Chapter 1 is my favorite so far, but chapter 3 seems like it's going to be pretty great.
