why are we assuming it was a foreigner that wrote it? or someone on the dole?! it could just have easily been an employed english person that had a particularly enjoyable trip to egypt! or possibly not. but either way, i'm sure whoever wrote it didn't mean any offence at the church in particular, no more than if they had scrawled it on the side of a supermarket or a bus shelter. as it happens, i'm on the dole at the moment, which is hard at christmas, but its something im entitled to since i can't find a job, and it certainly doesn't make me want to go out and graffiti churches!
our of curiosity, which church was this taken at?

I am sorry i typed 'England' like you didn't know where Shrewsbury was, i forgot you live there. The church is on Belmont and it is called St Davids Presbyterian Church of Wales. Here is a link which shows a picture of it [link] In the second picture you can just see the windows on which is written the infamous words.

I never implied it might have been a foreigner. I am also unemployed and it is a very frustrating time for me at the moment and i agree the reasons behind their act could have been a million and one things. It was written on the side of a church in Shrewsbury, England which was boarded up so i don't think it is in use anymore. This picture has stirred up some strong emotions but when i saw it i wasn't shocked because very little really shocks me anymore so thank you for commenting and adding to the debate.

lol, sorry, the comment wasn't aimed at you, i like how you defended unemployed people! and i agree with what you had to say about it. it didn't shock me either when i saw the picture and i showed it to my mum who is a devout christian and she wasn't fussed about it either! it seems thats nowadays, non-religious people are more concerned with political correctness in regards to the church than the people who actually are christian or muslim or sikh or any religion! it's like we're so scared of saying something wrong and offending them. but i agree with that other person's comment, that we're lucky in shrewsbury (in my experience) that we don't get made to feel like outsiders in our own country. the only problem is the idiots that like to shout abuse at anybody who looks different to them and sadly i get that a lot coz i have piercings and purple hair! why can't the world live in peace and harmony hey?! booooo!! anyway, rant over, hope you have a wonderful day! are you heading to the carols in the square tonight? figured i could get some cool festive photos, although there will be no room to move! know of anywhere in the square that's higher than ground level to spy from?

I agree with you completely especially about the fact that you are looked at if you look a little different, who wants to conform with the majority anyway? I can't think of anything more sad than being just like everyone else because variety is the spice of life, as they say. I'm not going to the carol service because i forgot it was tonight. I think the best vantage point for photos would be from the Old market hall cinema or stand on the little step by the Halifax building society, it a little higher than ground level back there. Hope you had lots of festive fun, i look forward to seeing your snaps.

Whoever wrote that should get a bloody job instead of scrounging off benefits.

It could have been a perfectly respectable person that wrote it.

On a CHURCH?! I'm no Christian, in fact I'm pagan but I do respect the fact that this is a Christian country with Christian moral values that are being undermined by those who would take this country for themselves and get rid of the Anglecynn. They have no right to do so and must be taught what it means to challenge the descendants of the Anglo-Saxons and the Norse, a Blood Eagle should be drawn on their backs. They should respect the laws and customs of the country that has welcomed them with open arms.

I agree it is a despicable thing to do but you shouldn't jump to conclusions about people. By your logic the person who wrote this had to have been unemployed and claiming benefit. You seem to think that those who have Anglo-Saxon or Norse blood are some kind of master races and that other ethnic groups should obey their masters, forgive me if i have misunderstood you but that is the impression i got.

Master Race?! No, never that! My relatives fought against Nazi pricks who thought they were a master race. I merely believe that people should show more respct to the Natives of the British Isles, Manx, Celts, Picts, Anglo-Saxons and those of Norse blood. We have dwelled here for so long, and others don't always respect that we have our own culture and customs, instead they try to undermine us. Maybe you don't get treated like crap in your own country often enough in Shrewsbury, either that or you are far too polite but in Manchester and other towns its different. We welcome people into this country with open arms and allow them to freely practice their own culture but we also allow them to disrespect ours or lose our culture of OWN accord in the worry that it is not "politically correct." If being one of the Anglecynn who is now tired of being opressed is not politically correct, then I am not politically correct. I have nothing against other ethnic groups, indeed I believe it is wrong to discrminate against anyone, I know all too well from family members missing in action during WW2 that discrimination and greed is how a war starts but I also refuse to allow myself to become someone who has no pride in what they are. I AM very proud, and perhaps a bit arrogant and cruel but I am NOT a racist, as you seem to believe. Perhaps you misunderstand because, as you said, you have never felt very English but you must know that your people were warriors also. I do not believe that other ethnic groups should obey us, I believe they should respect us in order to receive or respect in turn.

I understand you and i think it is very commendable to be proud of what you are and where you have come from. I don't really believe you are a racist, just a very passionate person who is afraid that they are losing a part of themselves if they loose their sense of nation and identity. For my part, i believe that i don't have to belong to an ethnic group to know who i am and i suppose i should be glad that you have a place where you feel you belong so good luck to you.
