Description I am pretty excited to present my first infrared photograph. I converted a Canon 40D to shoot infrared at 590nm. I realise that 590nm isn't exactly 'infrared' as it is more 'visible light'. Nevertheless, I did try to achieve a more infrared look here.

I post-processed in Photoshop CS3 (old school ) by changing the red channel and then adjusting the hue. I could have had a blue sky instead of a pink sky, and pink trees instead of blue trees, but I preferred this colour combination. It was difficult for me to settle on a colour combination. Infrared photography really opens doors with regard to how you want your photographs to be. For example, I could have had a light green sky with light purple trees, or stuck to the original of yellow sky and blue trees.

I also used a lensbaby composer pro with a sweet 35 optic at f/2.5 which minimized the focal point and created the blur in the trees.

Can you believe that this piece was taken at the height of summer, that the trees were green, the sky blue and the sun yellow?
Because this is the beauty of infrared photography.

To learn more about infrared photography, check out Infrared Photography Week at projecteducate from August 10th - 16th.
CRPhotography 's monthly theme for August is also infrared photography!

I like the colour manipulations, but the blurring kind of detracts from the picture. I think it would have looked better as stationary. You did make a good call though on limiting the colours to only two, as it gives a nice, simple tinting effect. Really, my only gripe is the blurring, but it still looks nice.

How does the blurring detract from the piece?

If I had used my 50mm f/1.8, it would have been quite interesting without the blur, but the depth of field would have been quite shallow still, as it is here.

So far, I have only used the lensbaby and fisheye with infrared, but it's worth looking into the 50mm/minus the blur.

I like it with the blur. It's not something one sees often in APN, where almost all pieces have trees staying stationary.
