I can understand why you felt that it didn't turn out the way you wanted. Perhaps it could be due to the face perspective being slightly skewed to the right of the screen. Thanks for the video, I been using similar advise from a book, this is comprehensible but there are more than just set up the guide, its always the details that throws result off.

The background might be simple but it does the job for providing a source light for the lady. Which getting right can be a bit of a pain.
Reusing old work to practice on is a good idea.
