Description For Improvement-Club 's August color challenge (improvement-club.deviantart.co… ).
Task: color a drawing with limited a palette. Group of available color palettes were rrrai.deviantart.com/art/color… , rrrai.deviantart.com/art/color… and rrrai.deviantart.com/art/color… , all by RRRAI .
Using traditional media (colored pencils) I tried to reproduce one of those palettes (the central one of the second group).

What I've learnt from this challenge:
- I still don't know how to color and I especially don't know the best way to do backgrounds with yellow.
- studying works of other artists you can learn more (I already knew this but it's better remember that ^^)
- I'm still afraid to color and prefer b/w, even if I like to do well coloerd drawings; this mean that I NEED TO DO MORE PRACTISE !!

I want to also say that I've studied works of all the other artists who took part in this month challenge; I learnt a lots from them (all of them!) and I'm really thankful for their examples
A special thanks to LadyKylin , who has motivated me to participate (I really didn't want ): I drew this qilin because of you, your works have been very helpful

Art by me

Please don't copy or redestribute my work as your own. Thanks.

Much as there is always room to improve this turned out really well. Color is hard but so fun

I'm glad you did the challenge because this is lovely.

All thanks to you! (I've to say that I'm so scared of colors that I was not going to complete it...)

This was something that come out the first time I see your username, so I drew it because you push me to join the challenge: thank you
Your colored dice will help me in future when I'll try to color other works, they are great references ^-^

Awesome I'm glad I helped you get it done.

I've seen things like the dice I did where folks do the different color combinations before, I can't remember what it's called though. It's a great excersise to do, though I find a lot more fun doing it tradintionally.

Oh wow! This looks fantastic! The lineart must have taken hours! What a beautiful creature!

Oh no, I spent more time to color; the lineart took only 1-2 hours to imagine and drawing it.
Thanks for your comment and for your works for the challenge, I've learnt lots of things from them ^-^

Really! Now I'm even more impressed! It looks so clean, no wobbling ... and all the scales! For me lineart is the most tedious process, (that's why I use it as little as possible )

Don't be impressed, it just happened to be a "easy" drawing (and with "easy" I mean one of those drawings that come out from the pencil by their own). You didn't see errors because the small size of the image; but there are many, trust me.
So you usually draw with only color, no lines?

I'd love to know those drawings that just come out from the pencil ... never happens to me. -- I find it very difficult to draw evenly lines. I guess I'm just a bit shaky.

I usually draw either with the digital equivalent of a graphite pencil, sketches that consist of many tiny strokes, but most of the time I'm doing portraits (want to change that, yet for the time being I'm somehow stuck with portraits) with digital oil brushes.

I usually make a fair copy of the original drawing, so that I can delete all the unnacessary lines, ink or color but still have the original drawing. This is why my drawing have clear lines (otherwise it would be really dirty) (:

So, you are stuck with portraits and I'm stuck with pencil: we both have to exit from our closed loops ^^

Indeed - that's why I love the ImprovementClub challenges so much.
