My first tutorial!I'm so proud. ^^
I know this isn't really a new method of inking lineart, but I haven't seen any tutorials explainting this method in the GIMP, so I figured I might as well considering that I'm going to be making another tutorial on how to colour with the GIMP using this lineart.
I compiled the tutorial in Inkscape.
The sketch I used was glave by ~Dooitasheimashte .

Edit: if you see an error, please point it out. This is my first tutorial, and as such, there are many glitches. I'm correcting them as I see them, but I'm sure I've missed many of them still.

I found that you can use ball point pens for lineart; works surprisingly well

Lol, you can get the Sakura Pigma Micron 005 (I don't know why they insist on such a long name) at pretty much any art store, usually for 2-4 bucks a piece depending on how much the store is trying to rip you off for them. Yay art supplies! The leading cause of hunger among artists. q:
In their defense though, each pen does last a bit.
Sakura also has larger pen sizes (01, 02, 03, 05 & 08), which come in handy when you're trying to make a thicker line, and don't want it to bleed.
I buy the Pilot G-TEC-C4 at Staples, though I'm sure they're available at other stores. I honestly thought it was cheaper than the Sakura, but looking at the price on the Staples website, I find that it's $7 for two. Maybe my art store prejudice clouding my vision. Oh well, one more edit for the image.
The two pens function basically the same, however the Pilot bleeds marginally more than the Sakura, thus creating a thicker line in the end. The Sakura also has the added plus of being waterproof when dry (which I've used for waterclours before).
As for "other pens/markers," you can get them pretty much anywhere. Office supply stores are probably your best bet. I got the Sharpies at Superstore. I forget for how much.
