Nice tutorial. I've read it before started this: [link]
But most of the people say that one shouldn't use smudge tool at all - this makes me feel... kinda lame XD

If you would draw it from the beginning and show the process of Composition searching, building of a shape in lines and masses based on anatomy etc., your tutorial would have a great price. But now you illustrate just the overpainting process without understanding of shapes, human anatomy, lights, materials... In this case many steps are unnecessary, and unfortunately the meaning of such a lesson is rather doubtful...
A far as I know, such lessons help to confuse beginning draughtsmen and painters instead of to help them.

Thank you for the input. It was my first "attempt" at a "tutorial", and even while I was putting it together I realized there were many things I wanted to change and do differently. :3

Nicely done.
I know how hard it is to do a tut as I have done a few myself.
This is closer to being a detailed walk thru more than a tut but thank you for taking the time to share your technique with us.
