Description
Introducing my very first ever oil painting. I drew it while on vacation in Florida. My grandma paints for fun (she isn't very good, but it's a relaxing hobby that she really enjoys), so she and I painted together one afternoon, and I still had "Up" on the brain. For my first oil painting, I am thoroughly impressed. I know that I will get better as I do it more, but for a first attempt, not bad at all.

I missed the film and I don't know anything about oil paints - but this looks good to me. I can tell the paints came naturally to you.

The film is pretty good, I'd say it's worth seeing - from a quality standpoint.
Thanks. The odd thing is that I don't really like painting that muchβ¦

My brother said the film was good; I did want to see it but did not get round to it, unfortunately!

I know how that goes. Well, if you have a free night, it's a good watch, I think.

I swear, Dug is totally my Golden Retriever, Usul. The character is my babypuppy to a T!
Oils are a tricky animal to work with. As you go along, you will learn to think of them very differently from acrylics or any other medium, and they will become very comfortable for you, very quickly from what I can tell here. The main thing about them is to make sure you give them space. Oils need time and space, in a way that other mediums do not, and once you develop your own rhythm with them, you will never lose it! (And you look like you are already starting with a pretty good beat, to continue the metaphor)

I really like your description of oil painting and mediums in general, I think I'll starting using that mentality when I continue practicing with oils. ^_^

Beautiful! Excellent texture. Great show of dimensions. And I have to say, you really captured his innocence.
You sure have potential with this media.
Dug is such a sweetie.
