Description
So, I threw this together for anyone who can benefit from it. Its nothing special visually, its just a basic tutorial demonstrating how i create shadow borders. This one uses the shadow i've made for Caesar as an example.
The download includes a pdf & jpg + a png of the window image used in the tutorial, and the actual images used after cutting.

i think the culprit here is the "ATLASRECT:RECT" setting what does it do and what is its relation to the window borders if anyone knows??

it looks like its the images at fault.
the spacing on the edges of the images have to be just right. its really hard to explain how this works. just play with my theme until you understand it.

any other settings that might affect them???
I need a standard method to accomplish this coz i have been fiddling with the settings for almost 2 days now and havent been able to achieve the desired results.I dont know why but the sizing margins are not working as they should.I have been editing themes for about 6-7 years the old style builder for XP was great but windows style builder is giving me headaches or may its windows 7 at fault
any help appreciated

very nice tutorial, you could also precise to use a drop shadow in the layer properties then to convert to smart object and rasterize the layer,so you can control the intensity of the shadows, the opacity and the size

very true i usually convert to smart object when i start cutting. on my shadows i almost always use flat black, and about 75% opacity in blending options. i know every inch of that blending options dialog. <3 it

That's the way I tried to make them some time ago too, but I made some little mistakes and the shadows were out of place slightly. :/

its a little tricky. i usually have to tweak it some before it looks right.
but i used this exact process to do the caesar shadow and i nailed it the first time. the weird thing is the extra space on the sides of frame top, and on the sides and bottom of frame bottom. it makes sense why that space is there somewhere in my mind, but i can't really explain it.

Thanks I was actually trying to do this yesterday (I failed miserably), and now you've made a tutorial. Perfect timing.
