update: fixed emerald. sorry about that, i hope you all thanked seahorsepip for helping outa quick tip in case you run into this kinda issue again.. a lot of times these things are just .tar.gz or .zip for example, renamed. re-rename it .tar.gz and then extract the folder manually. jar is another good example

Sorry for this qestion but I place elementary dark at /home/USERNAME/.themes but I can't select the theme in Apparence. What would I do ?

it works! the matter was that emerald created an "eDark" folder in home/username/emerald/.themes with another "eDark" folder inside, so it couldn't read theme files.

Well, you should add where to extract the theme, otherwise people won't know what to do with the extracted files. The solution from WillYork above my post worked for me.

mm..and toolbat text is too dark in some apps(firefox,meld,bleachbit etc..) is there a way to make it brighter?

i've accidently overwritten the original view-list-icons-symbolic.svg files in ../pixmaps/nautilus/ and now i can't find the original files to download...
did you have th original svg files?

ok, deleting the nautilus folder in pixmaps and reinstalling nautilus-data via synaptic fixed this

if it happens again you can check your home directory for a folder called nautilus-elementary.. its the download location for the install files when you install nautilus elementary, so unless you manually find and delete it it'll always be there..
anyway, the svg icons are in the folder some where. alternatively you can download but not install nautilus elementary, then go to the download and find the svg's

This is Gorgeous, the emerald theme is just what I've been looking for. One thing tho, when I apply elementary from the Appearance Preferences windows, it goes to this horrid old looking theme and there is a question mark on the theme. Can anyone help me?
P.s, I just install Ubuntu 10.10, and I already used that link provided to install Natuilus Elementary. Thanks

did you go into customize, and apply from the controls tab?
you may have copied the wrong folder. after extracting the download, open gtk, and copy elementary dark into your themes folder.

i plan to make a metacity for everyone but i just haven't gotten around to it yet.. i prefer having per-pixel transparency so i can anti-alias mah curves yo
