I think it's adorable and absolutely deserves the DD! 
It might not be flawless, I wouldn't know, I have no clue how to make pixel art in the first place, so pretty much everything looks brilliant to me so to say. But if others say this is looking good, while it's one of your first icons, I'd say you definitely got some talent there! Keep doing what you do!

Oh come on people.... It's Abi-san's luck to get DD. If you jealous, just suggest your art to get DD too.
I'm new in pixel art too, I don't really understand what pixel is good what are bad. But this one is cute enough. And if Abi-san get DD, then it means Abi-san deserve to get DD.
Beside, giving DD to some one who never get DD is that awesome?

This icon is very cute and insanely good for a first time pixelling and you show a LOT of potential. There are just a lot of small things that bother me about this piece getting a DD I mean, you as the artist must be really proud to get a DD but isn't it kind of downputting to have gotten it on something you rarely do?
On the flip side an experienced, long suffering pixel artist might be upset to see this, because it is obviously a rookie piece. There are a lot of places where the curves could be smoother or the shading could be bettered and nothing is wrong with that, but I don't personally think this piece in particular is your biggest shining piece.
Again, don't get me wrong, I think this is adorable and I KNOW how hard it is to work in such tiny pixels so great job, really.

That might be right, but the Pixel Art gallery is a different one and nothing i do handle. Another CV takes care of that and i am sure he loves to get pointed in the direction of such artists. That being said the whole suggestion thing is very important. A CV is one person, in order to be able to feature deviations it needs to be seen by us. That's why we rely on suggestions. We can't feature what we don't see, but only what gets suggested to us or that crosses our way by accident.

Cute? Yes. Pretty good for a beginner? I'd say so.
But DDs never seemed like the sort of thing that'd be used to advertise new artists or beginner artists, otherwise there'd be a lot more shown. DD always appeared as that achievement that show you've come a long way and have improved to incredible levels. If you want to show off new artists to give them more recognition, I'd suggest a new function for that.

Just the fact 99% of DDs are usually of professional level artists' art just gives off the wrong idea and I think if this new artist gets a DD, more should as well.
