Well the end result wasn't what I originally had in mind. I had originally planned on just doing more of s slimline style of vase, but the more I turned on it, the more my original ideas just didn't seem to do the wood justice. I thought the footed bowl would better show off the characteristics of the wood.

It's hard to tell from the photo (I'm still desperately in need of a good camera), but this one is made from 9 squares of red oak and purple heart. It's the most common style of drinking goblet I make, though for the right price, I make them out of just about any combination of woods. Thanks for the great compliment.
