Description
It was an calm night, nothing out of the ordinary, just clear skies and relatively quiet streets. Everything was at peace. Everything except Jasmine Fabel. The blonde was tense and hunched forward in her seat, elbows on her legs and chin in her palms. Her sharp, dark eyes glared at the television screen, scrutinizing it, as if she was waiting for it to jump up and attack her."Just relax, Jazz. Nothing is going to happen, it's fine." Geneva chimed from her less than graceful place beside her. She was watching the first girl from upside down.
Jasmine wouldn't even look at her as she replied, "No. I can't. The second I let my guard down, it's going to happen."
The ginger rolled her eyes and hoisted herself up. She turned and pushed herself off the couch. "We should dance!" she decided suddenly.
"We don't even have music." Jasmine argued.
Geneva gave her a deadpan look. Who in their right mind would just /not have music/? Unheard of. The very thought made her sick. Instead of responding verbally, she fished her cell phone out of the pocket of her baggy jacket and opened her music app. She set it to shuffle and clicked a random song, setting the volume as high as she reasonably could.
An easy, upbeat tune started playing shortly before a girl started singing. With a grin, Geneva walked over to her partner and grasped her wrists. Tugging on her gently to urge her to stand, she said, "Come on! Let's dance!"
"I can't even understand her. What is she saying?" Jasmine said.
The ginger shrugged in response. "Honestly, I don't know. I don't really care, either. It's not about the words, Jazz, it's about the music! Come on, dance with me!"
"I don't like dancing."
"Yes you do." Another tug.
Jasmine's teeth dug into her lips. She was running out of excuses and Geneva was making it very clear that she wasn't going to give up.
"Fine." Reluctantly, she let herself be pulled up. Geneva cheered and immediately started swinging their arms around and trying spins and other, poorly executed, moves.
"You shouldn't worry so much about everything!" Geneva insisted, doing a twirl. "Just relax while you can! Let go and just let your body move to the music!"
Soon the song was over and another one started playing. It was one they both knew this time. "Aw yeah! I love this song!" And suddenly Geneva started singing the lyrics at the top of her lungs, passionately singing along while she danced.
The tiny smile the came to Jasmine's lips didn't go unnoticed as she started to get more into it.
By the third song, both girls were singing and dancing their hearts out. It was then, as Geneva watched Jasmine dancing and singing freely, without the usual stress, that she was falling in love with her all over again.
Their impromptu performance didn't last for much longer, however. Giving one's all to a physical art can be very tiring after all. So the night ended with both girls collapsed on the couch with the music still playing in the background.
"Ah, I'm too tired to go back to my bed now." Geneva sighed out.
"Yeah, me too..." Jasmine agreed softly. The silence rested over the two of the for a couple heartbeats before she added, "but I had fun."
Geneva turned her head to give her partner a grin. "I'm glad. You should relax like that more often. It's my favorite version of you."
Jasmine couldn't help the gentle smile that came to her lips, accompanied by a light dusting of pink across her cheeks. "Only for you. It can be our thing, okay?"
"Okay." Geneva agreed, scooting across the couch to embrace her. Nuzzling her nose into her hair, she softly replied, "I love you too."
