Description
FINALLY, I managed to fix those blasted hands!! Kinda...Well, here she is, Fara Phoenix.
For those that don't know her, she was Fox's first love, whose only appearance was in a Nintendo Power comic series in 1993 (she would've appeared in the unreleased Starfox 2, but Nintendo decided to redo the storyline completely and made Starfox 64 instead).
Fara, I feel is slightly unappreciated as a Starfox character (Miyu and Fay can be forgiven since Fara actually was given a chance at developing a character).
She was different to Krystal in that she seemed more confident to me.
Sadly, she is not canon to the current series.
And also, for you people arguing that Fox should be with Fara instead of Krystal (non-canon issues aside), look at it this way; Fara was his first love and Krystal was the girl he met after being alone for so long.
In other words, I like both of them, as they technically both have a different place in Fox's life (Fox was young when he met Fara, but older and more cynical when he met Krystal).
Or... she's his love in an alternate universe to the one where Fox is with Krystal. You can view the canon based on the SNES game and comics as one universe, and the canon following SF64 as another. There! Everybody's happy.
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys this (there is one person on DA in particular who I have a feeling will).

Fox IS with Fara... in the SNES continuity, before the Star Fox 64 rebooted the storyline. She doesn't even exist in the Star Fox 64 timeline, so she can't be an "old flame" of Fox's.

Fara was always one of my favorite female characters in Star Fox. I wish she was in the games.
You did an awesome job BTW.

This look good to me, well done.
I also know of an author on Fan Fic dot net whom you just might find interesting. [link] I find the stories good, if long winded at worst.

Nice work on her. (Perhaps a li'l to many muscular lines on the torso though, it makes her outfit look really tight) It's nice to see fanart of an obscure/forgotten Star Fox character.

Well, her outfit always did seem a little too form-fitting for a pilot in the comics to me (especially compared to the guys' outfits), so I just tried to replicate that.
And thank you very much. I personally do love the obscure ones.

Yeah, you might be right. Benimaru's Itoh's art style for the comic is pretty detailed at times.

Yeah, it's kind of strange in a way. The detail, shadowing in particular, manages to be incredibly realistic at times, yet of course, the style is still quite cartoony.
It's *almost* like what Pixar tends to do in their films, but in hand-drawn form.

I like it when Fara is drawn, cause it's a sign that she's not forgotten. Personally I haven't read the comics, but I knew about her and think she would've been cool to learn about. Anywho, good job

She really is an underapreciated character. It is a shame she only showed up in the comics. Very nice sketch of Fara.

Nice Work ... Indeed, she is greatly under appreciated, but I am still one of her biggest fans.
(Though, I did not even need to comment here, as someone already spoke for me. =^.^'= ~)
I like Krystal ... but I'll always love Fara more.
Fara Phoenix 4evah!

She is under appreciated. But at least there are people who remember her.
I really hope more people give her some loving.

Her only appearance was in a comic? Such a shame. I would have liked to learn more about her.

Yep. Screenshots show her as going to appear in the sequel to the original Starfox game but that was scrapped and so she only appeared in the comic.
Aside from that, she's the daughter of some kind of rich space merchant, Cheif Test Pilot for the Cornerian military and somehow bears a resemblence to Fox's mother.

It truly is a shame how Nintendo never truly acknowledges Starfox as a true part of the Nintendo lineage. They also seem to have no intention of restoring Fara yes?

Yes, t'is true. Fara is (sadly) not canon and there is (so far) no planning of making her such.
If she were to fit into the canon though, I would put her in a point after SF64 and for whatever reason, she and Fox eventually split apart.
Some have made a rather good idea that she would get injured (or killed) which would explain why Fox was so hesitant about Krystal.
One of mine was that she could have split from Fox due to their different stances (Fox does not want to be part of the Cornerian military, whilst Fara is cheif pilot).
I think the 'injury' version is the better attempt at making Fara canon (not because I like Fara getting hurt, I don't) but because it makes more sense in the context of the story.
And yes, Starfox does seem to be the franchise that Nintendo is taking the lightest out of all the 'big' ones.
Personally, it did get some largely improved respect on the Gamecube (SSBM was a good one), but as of late it seems that they are again falling.
Still, after seeing Brawl, I do have some hope they are going to restore it with the next installment.

Wait a moment, doesn't canon mean it is not considered to be valid in the story?
Even in the first Starfox64 Nintendo had only been using it to test the FX chip! Nothing more! There was an article published where a history of Starfox was put up. Nintendo considered the Starfox series nothing more then a guinea pig to test their new technology.

Canon means that the content is an established part of the overall story.
i.e. Batman:The Animated Series is in the same canon as Batman Beyond and JLU. Whilst The Batman is set in an entirely new storyline and is therefore not canon to the previously mentioned series.
So, in other words, Fara isn't part of the same storyline from SF64 onwards and therefore not part of the overall storyline for the games.
Yes, it is true that they used Starfox (the original, not 64) to test the chip.

That is rather confusing...didn't Nintendo say that the SF Command endings were canon?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ACdraw In reply to Foxoftruth [2008-06-06 21:11:47 +0000 UTC]
Nope. None of the Command endings are considered canon yet (though one in particular I would like to).
Apparently for the next game they may be giving the definitive ending to Command.
Although, in fact I'm not sure if the entire game is going to be considered canon with the next installment considering the overall storyline sucked and that the team's appearance in Brawl kinda hints at that (i.e. Krystal was still with Starfox in the game, whilst Command depicts her leaving).

Well one thing I can say, is that although they've been extremely indecisive on Starfox recently, the games' still make much more sense than the Sonic games.

Indeed you would. Although Vuldari definitely is a close second.
The pic you are thinking of is most likely the rough version of this pic (I've fixed the flaws and cleaned up the lineart with this one).
And I do eventually hope to do all my pics in colour.
Thanks for the comment and fave.
