Description It's amazing how different this looked in my head... Oh well.

A while back I mentioned doing a "sexy" painting that I was the only one likely to think of it like that. well, this is it. It's not so much the painting, but what the look of it triggers in my mind that is sexy. It's like this biomorphic sea/space creature bound up by a creature of vines and blood. Helpless and bruised, it submits to the will of the Blood Ribbons.

Creepy, eh? I suppose I've been reading too much Poe.

I have a fascination with sea creatures and how they look and move. They're not bound by the laws of gravity in the ways that we are, their bodies have such varied and unique structures to them. Now, I don't find sea creatures "Sexy", but they way they move and the rhythm to sea life is certainly beautiful, and trying to mix that kind of freedom with being bound up I thought would make a pretty interesting painting.. Perhaps I should have picked an actual sea creature to paint so it wasn't so abstract? Eh, I'm still happy with how it came out. This is my 5th* painting ever? Something like that...

(*My tossing paint randomly onto a piece of foam board doesn't count)

I know you said this was like sea creatures, but I'd like to know your representation of the blue and the red one. Because...it looks like the red one is squeezing the life out of the blue one.

Maybe me saying they are sea like sea creatures was misleading. It isn't supposed to be representational of some sea creature that I made up or something, but more of their ability to flow and wrap around and take over things.
The painting is more about submission. The blue is peaceful and content, but the red comes in to change the blue against its will, and eventually blue accepts... to be honest I don't entirely remember. I was going through a lot of odd stuff last year and that, coupled with being a early work of mine with a vague silly concept, brought about a lot of works that confuse myself now. sorry

I can completely understand that concept though about the red and blue and blue submitting to the red. I definitely see that looking at this piece. I've gone through some crazy stuff this year, so that may be why I can get that...I don't know. The tentacles could be somewhat representational as sea creatures. I was just curious as to the concept of the red and blue and what was going with those two. You answered that for me, though Thank you. And, I asked because ...I just think that regardless of if a piece of work is abstract or not, the artist has something going on in their mind that brings stuff like that into the piece. So, there is a meaning behind what they paint. I'm sure that's not the case always. Anyway, it's a great piece.

it reminds me of internal struggle the blue is more calmish (is that a word?) and the red is trying to over power it.... yes XD

the background also make it "intimate" its a small place and ur looking in on this struggle. it implies the internal thing again sorry repeating myself

You're not really repeating yourself, I get what you're saying. And awesome comment, I think you pretty much nailed it. It's really open for interpretation, but I see it kind of as the blue being this happy calm being just minding his own business when the red comes in and takes it over. The blue struggles (though is still calm in the painting) but eventually gives in and almost willingly accepts its fate. The surrounding stuff is like you said, intimate, making it more personal and almost claustrophobic. I could keep rambling, but I'll stop now. xD

Thanks for the great comment and the fav.

Yeah, it turned out pretty creepy. I have a photo of the painting with the first two layers, and it was so bad that I wanted to burn it. I'm glad I stuck with it. xD
