Description
+ 10% Inspiration, 90% Perspiration. It's not how many ideas you have, it's what you do with them.+ It's been a long time since I've really worked on a project in photoshop. Feels good. The idea for this project hatched several weeks ago...I had my mirror to play with and my antique cameras. But what to do? For a while, nothing was working, nothing was inspiring; the experiment was looking dim and pointless. Shooting the cameras by themselves just wasn't cutting it, so I thought about what concepts could be represented. A light bulb went off in my mind (der) ... so I went downstairs to get one.
+ Photoshop work: The camera refecltion was blurred, desaturated some colors, applied gradient color burn to achieve dark and worn look. To ensure a large quality print, I also stamped and duplicated some content that around the edges.
+ Enjoy!

you don't need another fan, but you've got one. when you turn your ideas into beauty because you push yourself, you get respect. nice work.
the soft gold is such a refreshing hue for still photography that doesnt involve human figures. this is something i wish to remember seeing, so it gets a fav!

The first time I saw this it was on a wall in the student union at UCF. It really grabbed my attention and I had to get a closer look. It is a very thought provoking juxtaposition. It is so purposefully done that you almost have to tell yourself that such an item wouldn't work.

Very, very sweet!
In thumbnail-view it first looked like a stamp, but this is even better!
Nothing to criticast on this one, just one heck of a shot!
You are pondering on how to get the lightbulb glowing in this pic or so i've read
Well, since this is heavily photoshopped already, try to shoot the lightbulb in working order under the same angle (or upside-down for that matter ), against a black background.
After that it should be nothing more than a cut-n-paste job and a little fiddling with the layer-blends (i think the one just below 'multiply' would be particularly interesting). You already have reflections caught in your original image, so it should be possible to pull it off

Glad you liked it, bud!
I should definitely revisit it someday and try more with the lightbulb. I don't know how I'd do it just yet, but I'd like to have an accompanying shot, ya know? Thanks for the encouragement!

What exactly do you mean with 'accompanying shot'?

"...but I'd like to have an accompanying shot..."
Read that as if I was saying "...but I'd like to have another shot to go along with it..."
Hope that makes more sense.

Seems almost too perfect to be a photograph.
The gradient works so well with this and the desaturation as well.
You have definately achieved the "old feeling" you were going for. Great work and I love seeing people do conceptual shots like this.
Nicely done, keep up the great work.

w00t w00t. Looks good, unfortunatly im at school and the monitor is horrible so the colors are off, but I've seen a thumbnail of this one before and so I'm a bit familiar w/ the colors. I love the whole "idea" and lightbulb relationship. It's almost as if you're getting and idea for a photo! And so a light bulb goes over the camera and you take a picture of it.... Now we fall into some wierd infinate loop. The photoshop work i think works very well, but quite possibly uneeded. :reads description of photoshop work:... nevermind sorry. Yeah, good call on the slight manipulations. You know what could make this shot better? If the light bulb was on. It can probably be done with two cables and a good battery. The challenge would come in composing the shot in a way so the cables don't come out.... maybe they can be run behind the camera and then go into two wholes in the mirror. Ok sorry... i think i went off on some crazy tangent. You gotta admit, it would be fun though.

It is evident that a lot of work went into this - it's also nice to see some original concept work for a change around here - good to know that people will break free from the cliche and try something new!
You've certainly achieved that 'dark and worn' look you were talking about with the colours and desaturation - excellent results!!

You're the king of original and new around here, man. If nothing else, then just incredibly clean and well done.
So, it means a lot to hear you say that on this piece.
