The world was a mesh of life and hell. In the zone of Kandriya lush, beautiful forests teaming with life were marred by black and red scars. Molten lava ate away at the earth, devouring vegetation and animal life that dare draw too close in its hell fire. The obsidian scabs left by it molten touch a glittering, cold reminder of the lava's searing heat. It was among this battle of life, death, and creation that a single brown ket searched. He had left his brother and Acea to tend to his cubs while he hunted. The ex-slave, though distrusting at first, proved to be a wonderful babysitter. As he searched for prey he kept an eye out for possible gold and iron deposits. The precious metals and rare gems permeated the ground of these lands. Forge by heat and pressure, among other things, these items were extremely valuable.
If he did not find food he could possibly find treasure to trade for it. With a growing family he had many mouths to feed. As such the adults hunted more and more spreading further and further away from home in order to find food. It was what had brought him here now. He was never still. He moved with power and purpose. Quiet as a ghost. His head and ears on a swivel. Opening his mouth he tasted the air trying to locate the scent of prey he had been tracking. But something else caught his attention...
-
The regal ketucari had wondered out of the searing heat of the dessert region to end up in another region with the same heat. This, however, was a different kind and she found herself exploring Kandriya. Nephthys wondered just how this place had not just gone all up in flames with all the lava coursing through. It even formed bubbled on it's hot surface and exploded when it had gotten a lot of air inside. The grass around it hissing in protest. Beside all it's unaccustomed beauty, the female had come here for other reasons.
Given the lava, gems and ore where even more wonderful than in other places. The had their own gleam that could only be obtained with the amount of heat and pressure they were subjected to. So far, she had only found one small purple naliem, not even worth trying to sell. She gave a huff as she walked, irritated that her trip so far was turning into a waste. Oblivious to her surroundings as the female mused to herself. "Those mangy merchants.." She spat. "When I get my claws on them--".
-
Through the scent of sulfur and heat he smelled another of his kind. His hunt temporarily postponed he waited for this stranger to come closer. His head cocked as he heard her threats and he could not help but give a crooked smile. "I'd hate to be one of those merchants." he said, alerting this woman to his presence before she stumbled upon him. It would be rude to startle a lady. When she came into view he let out a chuckling breath. "I do feel sorry for them."
Seafoam green eyes watched the black and red woman as she moved. The rogue eyed her. It was natural for a warrior to size another up. His gaze was polite and he dipped his head in greetings to her. "It is good to see you again, Lady Nephthys." He went on in a pleasant tone. "You are looking as radiant as ever." He had not expected to see the proud woman again since their little escapade in the swamps.(edited)

Her rant was cut short as she heard someone else. Her head turning toward the direction the sound came from and her mouth opened ever so slightly to get a clear scent beside their surroundings. The tone if voice surfaced memories of a a past night where they had met. "As you should. They should really get their facts straight; that way they wouldn't fall under such predicaments." The female provided with a faint smirk.
"Why thank you," Nephthys offered with a dip of her own head in return. It was to his best interests but the brown fantail couldn't deny compliments that were so true. "It is pleasant to see you as well Rypht. Must be faith to cross paths again given how big the world is." She had come closer to where was appropriate. Nephthys sat, her tail sweeping forward to come cradle her form like a cat's tail would.
"I hope your days have gone by without issues?" She inquired with polite curiosity as her vibrant amber gaze focused on the male.
-
"It is certainly bad for business." He commented with a flick of his ear. It was a merchant's job to ensure good information, should that be what they are selling. Miss information could lead to loss of customers. Either because they no longer trust you, or they have died due to being given the wrong info. In Nepht's case he was sure these merchants would never forget their wrong doings. She had not struck him as the forgiving type by the way she had handled the villagers in their last encounter.
"You're most welcome." He replied. "I must be Fate indeed. Or perhaps the world is not as large as we think." When she sat he did so as well. His own tail curling around his paws. "It has had its moments. But no issues too hard to manage or too great to fret over." He did not mention finding and adopting Cill or having cubs of his own. His heart filled with a warm pride at the thought of his beautiful little cubs waiting for him back home. "And what of you? I hope life has been treating you well."(edited)
-
"Agreed." She made a mental note about giving a visit to those merchants on her way back to Feldar. It was easy to find them as it was their business to be very known around the regions. Too bad for them this time.
"It would be such a disappointment if the latter was the case. I like the prospect of a large land one can conquer for themselves." Oh she definitely wanted to believe that so. Being Queen was one thing, but thoughts of Empress sometimes danced in her mind and the irresistibility of such a dream were seductive in their own right. "Well I'm pleased that you haven't run into any issues to big to overcome."
The fantail female rose to her paws gracefully walking in a circle around the male. "Life's been divine. No issue's worth enough to mention, same pack life; and speaking of pack life.." She said, pausing as she circled him and came to face Rypht, amber eyes focusing on emerald. "Have you given a second thought to my proposal? It still stands dear Rypht."
-
He resisted the impulse to shake his head at her dreams of conquest. He normally did not care to be in the presence of ketucari who dreamed of such things. His own morals and ideals were in direct conflict with such beings. Instead he gave a small smirk.
"Those are some lofty dreams my lady." He said as he watched her circle him. He knew what was coming as she spoke. She would expect an answer. Honestly he had hoped she had forgotten. That it had been a mere frivolity tossed aside upon further contemplation. But a queen did not forget such things and now Rypht found himself on the spot.
His face was ever unreadable. "While I am honored by your offer, I cannot accept." He replied humbly. His eyes never left her's, even as he gave a small bow of his head. She was a woman no doubt used to getting her way. He was not about to let his guard down now that he had just refused her.
-
Her amber eyes blazed, but that was soon soothed to a perfected calm. She would never understand why some Ketucari did not want the taste of power, that was what made up the world: Those who held power ruled it, those with none were nothing. The hint of appalled disappointment was clear in her tone. "Pity."
She took two quick lithe steps back, placing space between them again. Beside the strength of the male, that was mostly why she sought him to join the ranks. Now that he denied, there would be no asking once again with her. "I will never understand why you deny a chance of power." She mused rhetorically, her tail flickering idly in an almost comical matter. "What could be so important as to deny it?"
Her cold expression told she sought no answers.
-
He watched her carefully. Saw the flame in her eyes. She found it disgusting that he denied her. He didn't answer her, she didn't want one. If she had she would have learned that he already had those he lead, a family he watched over. Sure, it was not as large as that of Feldar. But they were his family and they looked to him to lead them. He did not try to help her to understand this. She was a rock, set in her ways. No doubt the next time they met she would have less respect for him. But that meant little to him. He gave a her a nod of farewell. "Though our opinions may differ, I wish you well, My lady." He said.

I believe it was more of an area with an active volcano. (I honestly do not remember the landscape since I am a dork).
