Shiya frowned as she squinted, trying to see through the blizzard. "Uncle Gryphon!" Her voice was ripped away from her by the screaming wind. The two of them had set out together in search of her father. He had not come home when he has said he would. Worried, their little fly had left Cillian and Acea to mind the camp while they searched for him. They had traveled in the route they knew Rypht would have taken. Braving the storm to locate the head of their family. The driving snow eventually caused them to lose their way. In the end they became separated. Shiya was cold and sick with worry as she trudged on. "Daddy!" She hollered at the top of her lungs. "Auric! Uncle! Anyone!" She strained her ears but the only response heard was the cry of the wind. Lowering her head she fought against that very same wind in order to advance further. Where could they be? She could barely see. How long had she been out here? How long had her father been stuck in this? Was he and Auric safe? She didn't let her train of thought go any further. She couldn't. They were safe. They would find them. The question was, would anyone find her?
They should have tide themselves together to ensure that none of them lost. Hindsight was a cruel thing. The grey fantail gritted her teeth as her paws began to throb in pain. But she continued onward. That was, until she ran right into someone. The wind instantly died down when she slammed into the body. Both creatures barked in surprise as they jumped back. Shiya's back half seemed to pierce an invisible barrier, ending up back out in the blizzard as her front half remained within a calm space. Bristling the two ketucari eyed one another. Both of them were light in color, though unlike Shiya's smokey grey pelt the other's was almost as white as snow. Was this the color known as opal? How rare.
Atop this female's head protruded two, beautiful horns seemingly made of ice. She was a stunning creature. "Who are you?" The female asked. Shiya gave her a smile. "It is rude to ask for someone's name without offering your own first." She said. The female gave her a smirk. "Aiesa. Care to tell me who you are and why you ran into me?" Shiya cocked her head. "It looked to me like we ran into one another. I am Shiya." They other leaned back and cocked her head. Oh this was had some fire in her. The fantail lifted her chin and gave her own wry smile. "It seems that we did. Tell me Shiya. Why are you here?"
The fantail's smile fell. "I am looking for my father. I think he was caught in this storm on his way home. Have you maybe seen him? Ha large brown male with blue tattoos." The worry in her voice struck a cord with Aiesa. She sadly shook her head. "I wish I had. I too am looking for someone dear to me."
"Perhaps we can look together?" Shiya suggested, not wanting to be out in this storm alone again. Aiesa frowned as she considered this. Two pairs of eyes would be better that one. But she shook her head. "I don't want to put you in any more danger."
"You do realize we are in the middle of a massive blizzard." Shiya pointed out. "I don't think I can get into any more danger with you than on my own. Plus you seem to be able to keep the storm at bay. If anything, you'll be helping me."
Again the opal female shook her head. "There are dangerous creatures after me. A few attacked me only recently. I fear they are after my king." It was Shiya's turn to frown. "Then it is even more important that we stick together. My father and uncle are out in this on their own. If we work together we will have a better chance at locating them, and your king." After some thought the other female agreed. Side by side they trekked through the snow. Only its depths impeding them as the wind and snow blew around them. They were protecting by some form of magic. "Incredible." Shiya commented at one point. "Yes, it. The Winter King's powers protect all of his devotees in the same manner."
"The Winter King? The one in the fairy tails?"
"The very same."
Shiya processed this new information. So that was why the storm had appeared so unnaturally. Then a wicked idea popped into her mind. That indea curled her lips into a mischievous smile. "If there creatures after your king, then wouldn't they know where he is? Or at least have some idea."
"I suppose." Aiesa muttered, giving Shiya sideways glance. Her own mind was beginning to see where this was leading.
"Think you can find one of them again?"
"I think I can do that."
Not long after Aiesa had retraced her step with an uncanny accuracy, they found a sooty trail to follow. Soon after that they had hunted down a small group on the vermin that had attacked her earlier. They were creepy. Like monkeys that had been tossed into a blender with a bunch of other random animals and then stitched back together. There were three. They only needed one. The large ketucari fell upon their prey. With element of surprise they easily killed two of them. The third bolted. Aiesa took off after him. Instantly Shiya was engulfed in the storm. She did her best to follow them, catch up in time to see Aiesa tackle the thing to the ground. She drew alongside as Aiesa breathed threats into the thing's ear. Its hollow, white eyes widened in terror. It did not take long before it began blabbering, telling them all about Teim's plan. The ambush of the king, the poison, and how another group had ultimately captured him. Aiesa dug her claws into its flesh. "Is Taunren alive?"
"The no-tail?" It cried out in pain. "Yes, yes! He and the other brown one are alive."
Shiya shoulder Aiesa out of the way. "WHo was this brown one? Did he have blue markings on his pelt?"
"Yes!"
Hope filled Shiya. Her dad was alive!
Aiesa pushed her away. "Where did they take my king!"
"The fallen sanctuary!" It hollered after more convincing.
Aiesa gave a nod. "One last question. How do we cure Tauratu of this poison."
To this the monkey could not answer as he laughed manically. "You can't! He will die, Teim will gain his power and wage war upon your foolish deity. You have already lost!" Snarling in fury Aiesa finished off the vile being. It evaporated into smoke, staining the snow black.
"Lets go."
