This is really lovely! I like it in and of itself, but as a book illustration, it's doubly wonderful; my first thought, when I saw it was that it looked like an illustration for the better class of graphic novel.
Are you already a published author, or is this planned as your debut novel?

I have several other books besides, being submitted to editors at the moment, but 'The Wars of Avenan' is my first fantasy series. This picture will be used as an illustration in one of the five books.

On the subject of the artwork itself, I can definitely see this as a bookplate; are you aiming for the almost-old-fashioned style of book which includes full-colour plates, every now and again? I love those; I did as a child, and I still do, to this day.
I guess I was just surprised to see you mention this in an illustrative context, because I haven't seen any modern publication types (short of the aforementioned graphic novel) which include colour illustrations; but if you've found such a publication method, more power to you, I'm sure your work is ideal for it, from what I've seen so far.
