My first truss platform I tried to build IRL using large carbon fiber poles people use for big kits. (Late 90's if I recall right.)

This is a 3D model (OBJ) of it.

The one I used to try to convince the team to build it was based on heavy toothpicks and didn't have every line element this model has. We were trying to launch a rocket from a balloon platform and needed something other than large balloons at the end of a long line.

Remove some of the elements in the pentagonal bipyramids and it lived again as a test platform for near-space flights.
