" End of May and early June, this picture perfect afternoon we shared. "Since the time calls for it and I simply love this musical so here's some fan art.
Overall though, I'm not too satisfied with it and something bugs me argh I can't figure out what it is though.

I really love your style, I think it is very heartwarming? I cant find the word for it, but the way you use warm tones really compliments the feeling of the work. I like how rough it looks, almost sort of sketchy but completely finishing at the same time. The use of different brushes to give contrast in the background and shadows really works well, I especially love how the wood fence looks. I saw that in your description you mention something being off and I kinda see it too, I only see a couple of things that may be the ones putting you off, the trees in the far backgroung, the ones in green, kinda make the background loose perspective, they are too light(?; maybe placing more warm light from the sunset into the characters to give a more sunset-y feel, and the last thing that I see is that maybe the lineart lines are way too dark for the skin on the character with the stripped shirt and maybe fixing the other character's hand...overall I think it's a good piece and I really like their expressions, they both seem to be having a good time<3

I know I know I already posted a comment below but I just wanted to swoop by and give a bit some feedback that my be more constructive and helpful to you.
So trying out a comment fomat so bear with me on this
This Piece makes me feel : happy your so good at presenting friendships the feelings of warmth a graduate seeps from the scene really lights up the day its pretty inpossible to feel misrable when taking a look here at this image it just has youth and summer written all over it somehow it feels content lighthearted and uplifting all at once which does make sense actually as you have stated it is based on a musical play.
I like this piece because :
It does a great job a painting the scene the boy on the right opening his mouth in the first verse of song the way the charectors make perfect eye contact the interaction is wonderfully mastered art work I also like the intresting woodspirals on the fence here and the colors are smooth yet mellow with greens and browns being base colors with vibrate thouchs of sky blue and and charcoal black help exile this chaming piece.Β
What could use a lilttle work but still doesn't mean its bad I would never comment on a peice I did not love
The girl on the left her left hands fingers look a bit bent I am no super girl at drawing hands either so don't feel bad just something to keep in mind while you progress.Β
The charectors are much more detailed then the back ground esp the trees look a bit catoonish compared to the rest of the elements here.

I already committed on how I admire your style and diverse skill its always wonderful to see what inspires your next master peice in which you always suprise us each drawing you do is deffrent then the lasr while still holding that same charming demeanor.

You could try looking around the web at photos also read any comics graphic novel or Mega you like reading graphic stories helps since your mind takes in the details of the drawing while having a good time.

This is a comment for
First I should say that I haven't seen the musical, so I don't know much about the characters.
That doesn't seem to be a problem, though, because you can pretty much see their personalities and relationship based on their facial expressions alone.
I also love your drawing style in this piece: it's really effective because it's soft, but with charisma!
I have a problem with the fence because it doesn't look 3-D, and the character's elbows are in the wrong place. Specifically they're too "forward".
If you struggle with giving volume to round shapes, I suggest you to stick to "squared" fences (sorry, I don't know the word to say that).
I think that the colouring of the background is too "sharp", it'd be so much better if you softened it up a little bit. After all, it's "just" a background!
One last thing: is the girl supposed to have heterochromia? I looked it up, but couldn't find anything about it...

Ohh thank you so much ! Hmm alright I was having a bit of trouble with the pose and the "sharpness" of it all and I probably should have decided to blur the background in the end. I think I should probably do that with all my future backgrounds too.
And yes, he (I have a syndrome for making guys look like girls so I don't blame you for thinking so) has heterochromia
