I absolutely love this. It's so haunting and beautiful. The eyes are full of depth, and I feel like Howl is looking right through me. Brilliant, brilliant piece!

yerb, good book. Though he did take a considerable amount of liberty with the plot so he may as well have.

Sophie looks more determined; there is a maturity to her. And there's something haunted and vaguely nightmarish about Howl's eyes; he could have forgotten himself, or might just be weary or resigned to his fate. (He looks weary, but the pin-prick pupils and the otherworldly gleam could mean otherwise.)
Best of all, you don't show the tops of their irises; the film did that and it looked astoundingly unnatural and bugged the heck out of me the entire time.
This piece is wonderful and I love it.

In the film I greatly enjoyed their interpretation of Howl, and with the film's story line his progression from man to beast was so fantastic. He'd given everything up in order to protect everyone, especially Sophie. He knew the consequences of his actions but he still took the risk. It really spoke for his character, as someone who had lost his heart as a child and could still be completely chaotic. However, it's like...that's the moment he changed, and he stopped running away. ; w; It is my most favorite book/film.
And I'm a bit confused? these are both Howl, the bottom one is him as a child. I would like to draw Sophie soon. 8D

Ah. I remembered near the end she had short hair. Misinterpreted. Still a gorgeous piece.

Still love this so much! You captured Howl so well and I love how he looks in your style. I'm happy you drew the bird version of him and as a child too! Thank you again so much for the request<3
