Description
An N1-OK "Baikal" rocket launches the space shuttle orbiter "Uragan" on the first uncrewed test flight of the Soviet shuttle system, 8th December 1985.Image from my alternate history timeline A Sound of Thunder: The Rise of the Soviet Superbooster .
The Baikal shuttle is my own invention, based on the Convair FR3 design for a US space shuttle orbiter. N1-OK is based on the planned update of the N-1 rocket, replacing the original Blok-V 3rd stage with a hydrogen-oxygen Blok-V-III.
