Details: At their base, Caleb's powers control rock and the earth around him. They manifest in a few ways, mainly the physical ways that affect his body, and the telekinetic ways affect his abilities to control what's around him.

The most obvious physical manifestation is the layer of rock that coats a large portion of his body - in fact, it covers all of it, save for sensitive areas like his face, hands, feet, and privates. The rock, however, is not as stiff as it looks, and his body is still able to move the way it's meant to. It only covers his body where his skin should be, that is to say, all the organs, etc. underneath the flesh remain completely in tact. However, the extra weight created by the rock is enough to have caused the natural strength of his bones to be increased, making him stronger than most humans (that is to say, he couldn't lift a train or something, and a really serious bodybuilder could probably still outlift him, but he has pretty strong base strength).

The more important part of his powers is the telekinetic side. He's able to control things such as dirt, rock, sand, some metals, anything made at its base of rock (honestly, think of Avatar: The Last Airbender). Rock is what he's best at, and his finesse will suffer a bit with things such as sand and metal, although he does have the ability to control them. He's able to sense rock around him, so he's very able to tell what he'll be able to control and what he won't be. This is part of why he doesn't much like heights, as he's used to sensing the ground under his feet. With his powers, he's able to control large amounts at a time, though it's difficult to name the exact limit (basically he can lift a lot, but not an infinite amount). When he was young, his control over this aspect of his power suffered, and he would often activate it on accident - however, now, his mental control has improved so that most of the time it won't happen unless he wants it to. It's still prone to activating during angry outbursts, though. To activate his powers, he uses a mix of body movements as well as willing things mentally to happen.

Appearance: Caleb, for starters, has short stature, being only 5'5"/165cm in height. His actual build, however, is a bit stockier, his body thick in terms of muscle, though there's very little excess fat on him. Most of his body is covered in a layer of rock where his skin should be, but it's formed in a way where you can still see the slopes of his body, and so he can still move with relative ease. His head is covered in thick, cherry-blonde hair, which he likes to spike up in a messy style. His eyes are both a deep, warm brown.

Clothing-wise, when he goes out, he typically wears some kind of turtleneck, with long pants and an undershirt that he tucks in, just in case someone sees under his shirt. Naturally, the turtlenecks or other garment that covers his neck (sometimes he'll wear a big scarf) to make sure his mutations aren't spotted. He almost always wears tennis shoes unless he's going somewhere that requires dress shoes. When he's just at home, he normally wears a tank top or t-shirt, with pajama pants. He likes the colors brown, orange, and black for his clothes.

This is definitely what you'll see when you first meet Caleb. He's irritable and standoffish, and has a tendency to push other people away before they even have a chance to get close to him. If you make any sort of unsolicited remark he'll be very quick to get aggressive with you, usually through some sort of smart retort back. He's also very angry; he feels as if the world is out to get him, and is unhappy about everything that's happened to him in the past, as well as mad at himself for the mistakes he's made. His anger and frustration at previous events can even tend to boil up into being flat-out self-destructive, saying and doing things he'll later regret.

Unless you're particularly close to him, Caleb isn't a caring person. He's very cold, and often shows little emotion, and little sympathy even in situations that deserve it. He feels like if he's lived through the things he's lived through, then others should be able to do it too, no problem. He's normally very uncaring, and won't often give anyone much help or sympathy unless it would somehow benefit himself.

However, if you get through Caleb's initial shell, he is extremely loyal. He's never one to abandon a person he cares about, and is prepared to stand up for them through thick and thin. He's actually quite brave and while he normally won't help people in need, that's due to lack of motivation. If he actually cares about you and you are in trouble, he'll be the first one to jump in to protect you, regardless of whether or not he may be outmatched. He's also very stubborn, and even in everyday situations he can become very locked in specific ways he wants to do things, and dig his heels in - hard.

Ultimately, though, Caleb is actually quite fearful. He's terrified to be hurt again, and that's a massive part of the reason why he detaches himself so much from people. He's scared to get close to anyone, as he's convinced by now that his life isn't destined to be happy, and that people who get close to him are desperate to get taken away from him for one reason or another, and he's terrified of that. Yet at the same time, for the exact same reasons, he can be very clingy. He feels like anyone he gets close to he's going to lose, and as a result he tends to try to milk the best out of the time they have, even if he gets annoying doing it. Due to not getting a lot of the attention and such that he needed when he was younger, he also has a tendency to be very needy, enjoying attention and if he isn't getting the attention he needs, he's prepared to pull stunts to get it out of desperation.

And last of all, Caleb is actually very humorous. He has a good sense of humor and loves to crack jokes about anything at all. It can take quite a bit of getting to know him before he's actually willing to show this side of himself, but he honestly enjoys to make the people he loves laugh, and he loves to smile.

When Caleb was born, he appeared normal, aside from being a bit on the small side. However, after a few days, he showed his first signs of powers, when small chunks of rock began to grow on his abdomen. At first they were worried about it being some type of weird skin condition, but realized he was indeed a mutant when one time he began crying, and the ground around him began to shake and crumble. His mother was accepting, and his father....tried to be. Pretended to be. That much is up for interpretation.

As he got older, his powers increased in multiple ways. The small bits of rock expanded, coming to cover most of his torso, which his parents desperately tried to hide by keeping it covered by clothing at all times. He began to show more abilities to be able to control the earth and rocks around him, which his mother promptly tried to get him to hide. However, he was young, and didn't yet understand the threat.

That being said, the threat was still there, and one day they were out in public when he was 8. What he did was mainly an accident - he tripped, and morphed the ground in a way to help catch himself out of reflex - but it was seen by everyone in the area. People just stared at first, and when people began to approach them, Caleb's parents grabbed him and they took of towards their house. When they got there, to his mother's horror, Caleb's father proceeded to beat Caleb, before he simply....left. And he never came back, just walked out, and didn't return.

A distraught Caleb and his mother, in the meantime, were forced to move away, now that Caleb had been discovered as a mutant. In the meantime, the rocky part of his body continued to expand, covering part of his neck, which they had to cover by having him wear turtlenecks any time they left the house. Caleb struggled to learn to control his powers as they intensified, becoming more sensitive. He struggled to even walk around without making the ground shake and crumble. Their first house after his father left, he accidentally managed to make it collapse from the force of his powers.

Their second house remained standing, but Caleb became unable to even leave the house as he desperately tried to master his abilities. He spent a solid three or four years without even going outside, dropping out of school and hiding in his home. He fell into a deep depression, which he's never quite come out of. His mother tried to help him, but it was obvious she was struggling as much as he was.

The first year, he spent trying to master his powers, and failing. Years two and three he gave up, and spent those years just suffering in the loneliness of his home. The fourth year, his mother was able to convince him again to try and master his powers, and he succeeded to enough extent that after that, he was able to try going out in public again.

He was twelve. He was twelve when his mother died. When she'd convinced him to go in public again, it hadn't gone well, with Caleb having somewhat of a mental breakdown not long after going out there. They'd immediately gone home, and Caleb had started yelling at his mother, blaming her, as she'd been the one to convince him to go out. Then, while he was upset, he screamed at her to shut up, stomping his foot - and as he did this his powers activated, spikes of rock shooting up straight through the floor and impaling her in multiple places.

Distraught, Caleb didn't know what to do and, fearing retribution for what had just happened, he ran away. The day was a cold, rainy autumn night. He still has memories of the night he spent out there, huddled in an alley, crying, being soaked by the rain.

He spent the next few weeks on the streets. Worse than that, the clothes he'd run off in didn't properly cover his mutated attributes - so he continued to be rejected by everyone he encountered, attacked, chased, threatened....until one day, he was lying in an alley, sick and close to death. A man found him and, despite visibly being a mutant, carried him home.

After a short while, Caleb awoke, in a panic at being in a place he didn't recognize. However, the man, an older fellow by the name of Jerry, urged him to simply lie down and rest, to which Caleb obliged. They spoke for a while, Caleb tearfully admitting that he was an orphan, and that he had nowhere to go. The man agreed to take him in, to Caleb's surprise.

He lived with Jerry for only three years. It was a happy few years, with Jerry clothing him, feeding him, and helping him as he grew up into a teenager. He explained what had happened to his parents, how his father had left and even how he'd accidentally killed his own mother. The man was accepting.

After those three years, though, the man died of a sudden heart attack on Christmas Eve. Caleb was distraught. They came to remove Jerry's body, but when they prepared to take Caleb to an orphanage, he freaked out. He tried to run, and when they grabbed him, he unleashed his powers upon them, killing one man and badly wounding the other. He wasn't able to bring himself to care in the moment, though, and fled regardless.

He managed to live on his own after that, albeit out on the streets. However, he made a decent life for himself - sort of. He got by on cornering people and demanding their money, threatening to hurt them if they didn't. He also took to wearing a mask during this time, so he hopefully wouldn't be recognized with his powers. He struggled to see much problem with doing this to people - the way he saw it, after all he'd been through, the world owed it to him.

When he was 17 he was able to begin living in a small house. In theory he shouldn't have been able to buy it, but the man who owned it simply said if he could pay, he could live there, no need for all the paperwork. So, continuing to get by on stolen money, he was able to pay for the house.

Around when he was 18, the man who owned the building was arrested on unrelated drug charges, and Caleb's home taken. After this, Caleb finally made the decision to get a real job (especially now that he was 18 and wouldn't need a parent to sign off), at first working in a 24-hour department store and working horrible hours so that he could afford a small apartment - one a few floors off the ground, away from anything his powers can use. He's since been hopping around different jobs, just desperately trying to find something to make him feel fulfilled. He hides his mutant status the best he can, both due to fear of what would happen if he was found out, and flat-out hatred towards being what he is.
