quite a contrast between the shadows and the highlights. it makes me think of molten lead.

Totally reminds me of a naturalistic approach to the Birth of Adam.

I really like the detail in this photo!!!I love taking photos of textures, theres always so much to look at. I also like how you've put it in black and white. that was a good decision. well done

thanks
i love textures as well, if you couldn't already tell by looking at some of my other stuff
i find that in most cases, b&w brings out textures i also think color is distracting in most cases

Plainly beautiful, the two pieces of bark remind of two hands finding together.

Excellent! There's no need for suggestions, its perfectly captured Love the lines and structures of course, you really have a feeling for such scenes and compositions.

I think this is the perfect photo for b&w. Good decision on your part. I think trees in general are good subjects for grayscale pictures.
As for the photo itself, I love the way the wood comes together, and the clarity of the bark.

i'm glad
why does it remind you of otogi? it kinda looks like mortal combat mixed with... dynasty warriors perhaps? xD is it an rpg?

The first otogi game had forest levels with trees that looked like your picture. Except they were orange and green like colors. But basicly it's a third person type of game with rpg elements.

It's nothing much to adjust, the piece looks very nice. By the way, have you tried to make the subject completely sharp and only the background out of focus? By the way, the depth of field points to the most special pont of the image, which is that crack.
