Description The pearly rosary beads
That fell through the hole
In the pocket of a little girl
Lie tangled on the street
Amid the rusted pennies
And old cigarette butts.
The golden glittering cross
That clicked against the coins
Now hidden by the dirt
And grime.
Its beads never again to hold
The perfect prayers of youth.

The tiny boat
That was once so cherished by the young boy
Will never sail the high seas
Of bathtub or pond again.
Instead its mast is broken
Under the shattered glass
Of empty beer bottles.
Once white sails
Now drenched with brackish water
Crumpled at the curb.
So suddenly it slipped
From forgetful hands.

So suddenly
It all disappeared from their lives,
So slowly
It eroded away
Until there was nothing left
But hard unforgiving rock
And coarse sand

One day it is there
The next day it is not
The day after that we don’t even remember

This is how it happens
This is how we learn
As faith and innocence
Are silently washed away
Leaving only the dirt
And deep chasm of the gutter

Hmm... Yeah sad poem... We lose important parts of our lives and let them go without even knowing it... we let them slip away.
