Description
Well I think now it's time for me to share what influences my drawing and writing skills. I would like to thank Gisselle for finding the pictures for me. (Don't worry. This'll be the last time I need her help with making these memes) So, here they are.#1: Peanuts: This was a series of comics and cartoons that actually played a big part of me growing up. Sure there are times where it gets depressing, but Snoopy was always there to brighten things up. I think the strongest part of Peanuts is the main Character Charlie Brown. He's such an identifiable character. I mean, we all have bad days or just feel hopeless with life. But that makes us feel glad when something good does happen to him. Though what makes this a big inspiration is that Charles Shultz encouraged me to draw most inspiration from my own life with my characters and stories. Which relies on more originality.
#2: Ed, Edd n Eddy: Oh hell yeah. I love this show! The characters are memorable, the humor is top notch, and the character design (While kinda ugly) is pretty fitting once you think about it. WatcherOfThe2000's brought up that the characters look like something a kid would draw. But like he also said, the biggest charm about this show is how the characters act like real kids. Which makes them both relatable and understandable. All of this makes this childhood show hold up. And is one of the rare cases of cartoons that knew when to end on a high note.
#3: Slice of Life Animes: Titles like Azumanga Daioh, Haruhi Suzumiya, Nanaka 6/17, Squid Girl, Di Gi Charat, just to name a few. This is my favorite genre in anime. For they would offer very lovable characters, and funny scenarios that I can relate and connect with. Another reason I find them important is that they helped me make new friends that also love these titles, that help fill up that empty part in my life. I'm planning to make a series inspired by my upbringings, but Slice of Life animes will play a major influence as well.
#4: Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli: Two names that every anime fan knows about. And why shouldn't they? A lot of these movies are masterpieces in their own rights. They may've not been a part of my childhood, but they have played a big part in my adult life. With their charming stories and characters, adult messages that take their viewers seriously, what's not to love about them. Some of my favorite titles include Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Whisper of the Heart, The Secret World of Arrietty, and more. Thank you both for being 2D animation's life support. It's very much appreciated.
#5: The Muppets: Now these guys really helped develop my sense of humor. I watched their films and tv shows constantly as a kid. And I still have very fond memories watching them. In a way, I can't help but compare them to the Looney Tunes a bit. Just hear me out. You have this big stable of colorful characters with unique personalities, funny chemistry with each other, and they were all created by more then one person. Are they for everyone? No. But they were a big part of my childhood that will always have a place in my heart. Thanks Jason Segel, for bringing them back.
#6: Disney & Pixar: Basically everyone's childhood. We all watched their films growing up. In fact, it was the first thing most people were introduced too. Most of their movies are timeless, and a lot of them appear in our list of favorite films. The one I like the most out of the two has to be Pixar. They have their own heart as well as the charm that made Disney a large household name.
#7: Looney Tunes: The masters of cartoon slapstick. Watching these cartoons always brought a smile to my face. Sharing the same reasons I loved the Muppets growing up. Memorable characters, and great humor.
#8: Super Mario: Probably my favorite game series. Mario just has this very simple charm to him and his games. Each title while having the same goal, does manage to bring in new tweaks to it. And the party and racing games are just fun as hell. He's just an icon that's hard to hate. Especially with the large impact he made in the video game industry.
#9: Aardman: You can never go wrong with these guys. They make perhaps the best stop motion shorts and films ever made. Their humor is very unique and clever, void from swearing or sex jokes, and they basically have pop culture references done right.
#10: ThatGuyWithTheGlasses: The way he reviews and makes fun of bad movies and tv shows from the 80's and 90's is just hysterical. Sure his recent reviews were kinda meh, but I thought he had some spark left.
#11: KHFMcAwesome: Yeah, you guys probably saw this coming. But I can't help it, he's just a good friend. Do we agree all the time? No. But he has introduced me to a lot of great animes, and is a guy that I can connect with. And no, I'm not talking about his KHF character.
#12: Moe & Julie Harvey (Rip Squeak & Friends): A lot of you may never heard of these two, or the book series they worked on, but they are pretty important figures in animation. They've worked at Hanna-Barbara, doing the animation of characters for Charlottes' Web. Plus, I actually know them in real life. Sometimes I would go up to Carmel and would share my art with them. Plus, I think they would really be proud of my tablet drawing once they see them.
#13: The Color Yellow: My all time favorite color.
