Description
Scottish Halloween, part 2After a long fly, the plane finally landed in Glasgow. As Chris and his rieds got off from the plane, they inmediately felt the chilly weather of Scotland.
"Brrr, it's cold." Mira shivered as the cold wind blew through her body.
"The autumn is always this cold." John explained. "It might be uncomfortable foe someone who came from a warm country like Egypt."
"Don't worry, I can handle it." the Muslim girl replied.
"That's good, well my father is already there." John pointed at a greenish-blue jeep in the airport's parking.
"Hey Johnny!" an elderly man got out of the vehicle, wearing the same Scottish attire as Agate's father.
"Grandpa!" Agate ran to him.
"You haven't changed, Dad." John remarked.
"It might be true but your daughter is taller and more like of a young lady now."
"You flatter me, Grandpa!" Agate blushed. "Let me introduce my friends: Chris and Mira."
"Nice to meet you, kids. My name is William McCartney, Agate's grandfather and the current head of the McCartney clan. It's a pleasure to have you aboard."
"Thank you for having us." Chris replied.
"Now get into the car." William beckoned them. "We still have a long way to go."
After they got into the jeep, they headed to the family castle. The vehicle left Glasgow, and soon they found themselvves in the mountains.
"Wow, what a beautiful scenery!" Chris marvelled at the misty mountains.
"We're now in the Scottish Highlands." John said. "The most beautiful part of Scotland."
"It really is." Agate added. "And there're many mysteries."
"Like ghosts, fairies and goblins." William said. "And the Loch Ness Monster."
Suddenly, they found themselves in a thick fog.
"Is it normal?" Chris asked.
"Pretty much." John said. "There're times in autumn when the fog in the mountains suddenly thickens..."
Then a noise similar to a horse's neighing cut Josh's speech sport. A shadowy figure which seemed to ride on a horse appeared at the left side of the road, rushed across and disappeared at the right. The figure was a human, but seemed to lack a head.
"The Headless Horseman" William muttered. "If he's spotted that's a bad omen."
"Really?" Mira shivered.
"What we saw was just a shadow reflected onto the mist." John said. "The Headless Horseman is just a legend."
"He's real!" William replied. "Don't make these kids think that all legends were made by locals."
"It seemed real to me." Chris said. "Natural phenomenon or not, it was really scary."
Evveryone nodded as they agreed with Chris's statement. They then drove further, unaware that the Headless Horseman was watching them from afar.
The Sun was setting as the group arrived at the McCartney Castle. It was a rather large stone building on the top of a mountain.
"Wow, it's huge!" Chris gasped.
"We're here! Agate cheered.
"Okay, we've prepared your rooms." William told them. "Agate and Mira will be together in a room, also Chris and John."
Chris and the others nodded. William led them to two adjacent rooms.
"Here will you stay. After settling in, you can discover the castle on your own. but be sure to go to sleep before midnight. Tomorrow will be a great day."
"I can't wait." Chris said.
Agate and Mira entered into their room. It was a large girly room, mainly with a large double bed, a bookcase and a large window on the wall which showed great sight to the surrondings. There was also a suit of armor besides the bookcase.
"Wow, everything looks nice." Mira said.
"Yeah." Agate said. "But something is fishy about this armor."
Suddenly, the armor moved and used the sword in his hand to attack Mira.
"Kya!" Mira screamed and braced herself. Agate was quick to react and parried the weapon with her Moonfire Sword, protecting Mira.
"Never pick on the weaker you metal can!" the vampire said and her red eyes flashed. This caused the armor to back off and return to its place.
"That was scary!" Mira breathed heavily. "What was it, a ghost?"
"Yes." Agate replied, seeing a white foggy figure leaving the armor. The figure then took shape, transforming into that of a teenage girl.
"Please, leave my room!" the ghost stated. "I want to be alone!"
"Your room?" Agate asked. "This castle belong to my grandfather and he gave us this room to stay in. If you want to be alone, move into an another room and don't attack my friends."
Mira was dumbfounded. Did Agate just talked back to a ghost?
"I... I can't." the ghost girl replied. "I'm bound to this room, for eternity. This room was the place where I died and for some reason, I can't leave it."
Mira felt sorry for the ghost. Trying to put aside her fears, she stepped between her and Agate.
"Maybe then we can stay here together." she said. "You must be alone here for a long time."
"To be specific, for 500 years." the ghost girl replied, ghostly tears running down on her cheeks. "And even in my life I had no friends. So I locked myself into this room, away from the cruel world. Everyone were so cruel to me, so I began to hate humanity. This led me to become a ghost after my death, who haunts this room."
"How would anyone to be cruel to a cute girl like you?" Mira asked and Agate looked on with curiosity. "That just terrible. If you don't have any friends, please let me be your friend."
The ghost girl looked at Mira. She could see the sympathy within the Muslim girl's eyes.
"But I... I attacked you." she muttered.
"I doesn't matter." Mira smiled. "You're a person who needs help and more importantly, friends. I cannot ignore you."
"I can't believe it." the ghost cried. "So there are good people in this cruel world, after all!"
"So can I be your friend? I'll help to open your heart."
"Yeah, thank you!" the ghost girl finally sported a little smile. "My name is Eve. Eve McCartney.
"I'm Mira al-Rashid from the far-away Egypt." Mira introduced hersef. "And she's Agate McCartney."
"So you're William's granddaughter?" Eve asked Agate. "You look different than other humans, because no-one could scare me before."
"Well, I'm a vampire." Agate stated. "And if you would hurt Mira..."
"Agate stop." Mira held up a hand. "Please be a bit more friendly to this poor ghost girl"
"Eh, fine. I'm sorry." Agate sighed and satd down onto her bed.
"Agate is always like this when she meets someone she doesn't like." Mira said. "But I'll help you to get along."
"Thank you, you're the nicest person in the world!" Eve smiled and gave Mira a ghostly hug, causing the Muslim girl to shiver but smile as well.
"Well, you must meet with our friend, Chris." she said. "I think you'd like him."
To be continued...
