My cosplay for Otakon 2010, as you can see, was Ancient Rome from Hetalia. This is the costume I've worked hardest on, and it's not even done yet. I've gotten a lot of compliments for it, so I'm damn proud... though each night, I had to make additional repairs because parts kept falling off. It was also damn uncomfortable. I'll fix it some time so that I can sit in it and so that heat won't be retained as much. Nevertheless, the cool Chesapeake breeze made it bearable, as well as making any picture look epic.The armor itself was made of Wonderflex, with the medallions and chest piece made of sculpey. The "skirt" was made of brown felt and vinyl. The gauntlet is made of wonderflex and craft foam. The sword is wooden, painted it myself. The cape is made from the leftover fabric from last year's toga. The tunic is the same one I use with the toga.
Over the next few months, I plan on finishing this before AnimeUSA. I'll be making a vexillium so people stop confusing me for a Spartan.

You do make a good Rome and I believe you're the only one I saw at Otakon this year.. Kinda sad, but you're quite epic. I can see you worked hard on your costume, in which I know I didn't with mine. >< I had to buy my outfit, which was Italy. Otakon was okay it was my first time going there, although the fire drill did mess things up. I think your the Rome I saw during the fire drill. Do you remember hugging a Italy outfit during that time? xD If so, that was me.. I looked bad though. =w=; I should upload some pictures of mine, but meh.. Not sure yet. Oh and sorry for this long post. xD;;

That might help some people out, but I honestly think that your average con-goer can neither determine nor appreciate the difference between Grecian and Roman culture. :C At both Anime Detour and Anime Iowa, I was probably cat called with "THIS IS SPARTA" and "HURR I DIDN'T KNOW WE WERE IN SPARTAAAA" over twenty times. My Germania was asked if she was cosplaying Legolas Greenleaf from LOTR. :'D
But basically, this is a really good costume. My first set was made of wonderflex, too, but then an awesome friend of mine took up leatherworking and I was like YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH >8DDDb and then it happened. :')
...Sorry to ramble. I know you don't know me, but I am happy to have found another Rome who doesn't just resort to slapping on a toga (and wrapping it wrong). <3

You know, I started it out with the toga, and no matter how many times I wrapped and re-wrapped, only once did I ever look like Cicero denouncing Catiline.
