History:
Born the son of an impoverished noble (really the rightful heir to the Imperial Throne of Aerega) and an Idunalian merchant's daughter, Tristan Aodhan grew up listening to the stories of old from his parents and his caretaker, a monk on the run from the government. He was orphaned at the age of 10, when his parents were murdered on the orders of Generalissimo VonSchwarz, the de facto ruler of the country, for supporting revolts. Tristan was then taken away by the monk to the ruins of the ancient capital.
Training to the point of physical, mental, and spiritual perfection for eight years, Tristan was finally ready to lead the Imperial Revolution, to reclaim the throne that was rightfully his. Being successful in his endeavours for two years, he finally attempted a full-out raid on the Palace of the Fasces, the Generalissimo's office/residence and the military's headquarters. All went well until a traitor destroys the plan. A mass of soldiers arrived across the river with the two most powerful warriors in the army leading them. In the ensuing battle, Tristan suffered a massive gash across his chest and a shot in the left eye from those warriors. Nevertheless, he fought the two off and managed to lead nineteen other rebels away to safety.
With massive injuries all over his body, Tristan was taken away by his closest friends to the ancient capital, then to the estate of a sympathetic noble in the north for rehabilitation. It was from there that the second revolution, the Phoenix Revolution, would be planned and come to fruition.
But one warrior from the failed raid has followed him all the way to his hiding place in the northern lands. This time however, he wishes to join him! With a new ally in the War for Aeregan freedom, Tristan leads an army against the oppressive regime... and the armies of Hell itself!
--Comments--
The character now known as Tristan has been reworked over and over again. From a kingly superhero from another planet, to a half-demon trenchcoat-wearing justice-seeker, to a debauched and sensual freedom-fighter, he's gone through many forms before become the driven and dedicated warrior that he is today.
His history began solely as a quest to reclaim a lost throne. This was due to the influence of my LOTR phase. Later on, his parent's death was added due to a renewed love of Batman and comic books.
Design-wise, I designed it all from my head. Nevertheless, there are subtle influnces which are both deliberate and non-deliberate. The eye thing is accidently Kakashi-esque. The chestplate thing is taken from a customization for Marshall Law in Tekken 5. The pants are based on hakama worn with armor. The bodysuit? It's probably inspired by what Sanzo wears under his robe in Saiyuki. And the overall effect seems to be inspired by Nick Fury, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., according to my friend.
The designs at the bottom are (left to right) The proper Coat of Arms for the House of Iodhisis, the Imperial Standard, and the Great Armorial, a standard placed on the armor of every general in the service of Aerega. The motto on the Coat of Arms reads "SERVANDVS NOBIS OMNIA CVM FIDELIS" which means something like "We must serve all with faithfulness."
