You were always so neat and tidy for everything...
I still remember pushing you out of bed and watching

The sight of hinting facial hair and tired eyes will haunt me now.

But, I guess that's life.
Now we're older, I just wanted to show you.
To put my hand against the screen and find yours there,
waiting.

Today I think I look pretty.
At least, that's what my mom told me.

I wanted to show you I can do it.
Look, there's no dirt or grass stains on me anymore.
My hair is done neatly and I can stand up

I suppose this means I should be able to handle myself now.
To watch while you plunge into the world and brace for my own descent.

Someday I'll dance with you at your wedding.
By then, we'll both be able to move without falling

if I were in white.
Maybe I'll laugh.
Maybe I'll cry.
That doesn't matter.

All I want you to know today,
when I show you my dress,
is that you were right.
About everything.
And you're still better than me.
At everything.

But we're older now.
Look, I'm even wearing heels for God's sake.
Just please, please watch me as I walk away.

if you're watching close enough
you'll still see my ankles quivering.
