Description
. . . he was listening very intently to the speaker and I had to draw him. I colored him later, hence the notes about color on the side. The reference in the title to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is only semi-intentional . . . . .

That's cool. It's so choppppy but it's still got a lot of character. It looks like you were even in his field of vision. I draw people for practice too when they're not watching, so I know how tricky it is to do it well while remaining inconspicuous.

I'm like a silent ninja.
Only not really, except for the practice that I actually do have of fading into the background most of the time. It all comes from being happiest listening to conversations, picking up stories by stealth!mode and analyzing people. It's scary what people will say when they don't think anyone's paying attention. Not that I eavesdrop mind you, these conversations are in public places.
Observation is a useful talent in people-watching, although most of the time sketching's more conspicuous than I like-- paranoid people can always tell when I'm watching them to draw, and those who are interested noisily make a big deal about the sketches. *grump* Glad you like this particular drawing!

This is stellar--I feel the immediacy of it, and I think the text is an excellent addition. I'm glad you resisted the urge to change it too much. Somehow, you've conveyed character, and story almost. It makes me want stare it thoughtfully (which is a bit silly, given the subject, but hey).

cool, I'm glad you like it. My handwriting is worse than my Dad's though, and he's a doctor. That's pretty sad . . .

Looks like me watching a football game that interests me. Very involved but very quiet about it.

Yeah, I draw my Dad while he's watching golf or sleeping quite often too. It's easier to draw people who aren't paying attention to their immediate surroundings (i.e., those nearby with sketchbooks.) There were a couple of guys in my class that I could never sketch this semester because they were so paranoid.

Offer them a dollar bill. That usually gets them to lose their paranoia....although that's only a theory. A five cent piece doesn't work.
