Eww!... What need organic components?
The thing about using organic is the question is where did come?
You know how conscious eaters want to know where the food come from or made from? In this case, people will ask the same question by for guns.
For I'll know, this gun is harvested cells of some animal and biological/genetically-engineered in lab. A GMO gun.

I should've add, in Star Trek: Voyager, their ship uses bio-gel as circuitry which makes it data faster. The downside one time, the some of gel-packs got infected and ship got 'sick.'

Oh for the commissioner concept details, The organic part was supposed to regenerate particular parts in the weapons. So this is a weapon that kinda never breaks.
