One day I'll do decent shading that makes more sense, but today is not that dayI have this notion of comparing AJ to a mustang - well, the nature, anyway. Tried to give her that feel without her accessories somehow (plus she looks cool)

you know, i have three mlp ocs, two pegasai, and one unicorn.
this is becouse the three of them are inspired after diferent aspects of my personality and stuff... i have always loved fantasy andΒ some of my favourites dreams was to fly or to do magic... but then i realiced that maybe one of them was better off as an earth pony.
this is a difficult choice. should i? should i try with different versions of her? would it be better for her carΓ‘cter or the group?

I think you shouldn't be afraid to experiment. I'd say try drawing her as the three types and see which one you think fits better. Hope that helps!

I think you pulled that off. Just like she did with her hat. And I see no problem with the shading - the tonework in combination with it makes it look very effective and fitting the feel of the picture.

Thank you! It was sort of my first time shading hair like that, so I was pretty dissatisfied with the final thing because I ended up winging it, haha

It did its job quite well. As for the mane, well, constant living in good natural conditions, outdoors work and a good diet suitable for a workhorse like her would likely also result in a naturally strong and beautiful mane. Plus, she could've inherited it from her ancestors, which seem to have beautiful manes and tails themselves.
