Description
My first take at charcoal sticks (not the pencil kind) for a school project. Came out meh.
The paper was not black, but about 50% grey.He's supposed to be holding a ribbon. The initial sketches for this were drawn from life. Kind of a crappy picture of it.
18x24 on Canson paper.

Nice to see you working with a different media, though you're obviously not as skilled with this yet as you are with your digital art. I must though say that your shading is absolutely fucking brilliant, and that the flow in the drawing is very catchy. All in all, it's neatly done.

I think there is room for improvement, but those feathers on the neck and chest of the raven are amazing

oh nice! this is really nice for a first try. first time i grabbed charcoal sticks i kept breaking them lol i was pretty close to crying XD. you got some really nice contrast and texture going on in this piece

*shudders* I hated working with Charcoal.. it felt... weird and sometimes it made a sound I didn't like... however, it was interesting using charcoal + mineral spirits (or whatever it was we used XD)

The best kid who always turns out the best projects out of all of them but who is always very down about their work.
