Summary:
He wasn't sure if anyone else had seen the messenger trailing them. He caught it every time he looked back, its yellow gaze swallowing him whole. A past Khatar would have been relieved to know his god was watching him, but now? Now, it inspired rage and the selfish desire to send it back where it came from, into the sky. Neither zealot nor skeptic, he let it follow.
The longer it followed, wings spanning across the drowsy sky, the more unsettled he became. They were many things, in the religion of Tengerism. Birds of pure white and raptors took a spot of greatness in the metaphorical totem pole, above even wolves. Yet they were takers of souls to heaven above, bringers of fortune. To bring fortune to him would be an absolute mockery of what hell he had been through in the past few weeks.
He dismissed himself to Naiven, Antigone, and Solvieg, before he found the golden eagle in an open clearing of the forest. Lips curled up and teeth bared, he marched towards it. Puffing his chest out, he noted the all-knowing look in its eye before he growled.
"Tell my god he can stop mocking me," he spat out, bristling. "Tell Tengeri I've gotten the message. There is no luck here!" As a warning, he then added in brief afterthought, "If he intends to take anyone from my side, tell him to face me himself. Damn you, and damn him too!"
The golden eagle never flinched.

This is a stunning piece! I like looking at the background with the... grungy brush style. I also love the detail to the eagle's beak, the blues that bleed into pale gray and then yellow. The gradients are lovely as well, especially on the eagle with the hints of feathers using a lighter hue.

can I just say Im just in awe with how you drew the birb? I mean,everything looks so GOOD. your effects are to die for, and I wouldn't want to cross paths with Khatar right now baha :' D but THAT EAGLE, how you drew the feathers and painted the beak... perfect
