Reading her words, the girl couldn't help but feel repulsed. Feeling the paper crumpling in her tightening grip, Dust Speck shut her eyes, squeezing from them the hot boiling tears she'd struggled to fight back all day. If the Madame saw her like this, would she have said the same thing? Would she have told her to keep smiling? The smiling made them even more upset. It made them think she was trying to be pompous, trying to be more stuck-up. Did that make her evil? If she couldn't smile, did that mean she would be scolded? Live the rest of her years at this school in misery?

If that were it, then what was the point of living?
